April 17, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to receive representatives from the Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA) and a delgation of SVA Members from the Afghanistan Office for a meeting at the Embassy. Also in attendance was Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan.
SVA has brought into Japan the members of their Afghanistan Office for their annual training in Japan, and this year's group of six included Mr. Waheed Ahmad Zamani, Acting Director of Shanti Volunteer Association's Afghanistan Office. His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat warmly welcomed the guests to the Embassy. In return, they expressed deepest gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat for finding time in his schedule to meet with them, and for the warm welcome, after which they gave him a briefing on the state of SVA’s efforts and achievements in Afghanistan.

Following the briefing, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked each one for the information and renewed his deepest appreciation, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for SVA’s contribution to developing education and literacy in both rural and in urban areas of Afghanistan which is truly developing human capacity and investing in the future of Afghanistan be preparing and educating the next generations. They assured H.E. Dr. Mohabbat that their team will continue to cooperate for continued progress.
Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat remarked about the importance of SVA and their mission to promote education in Afghanistan and thanked them on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for all of their hard work over the past 15 years since they opened their Afghanistan Office and remarked just how much the people of Afghanistan would forever be grateful for their many noble works. SVA has launched school library projects, library renovation, and construction of approximately 40 schools in Afghanistan while providing books translated in Dari and Pashto to children and in addition, they train teachers to teach children how to read. SVA had constructed many libraries, taught prospective Afghan teachers, and supported many Afghan craftspeople. With the generosity and hard work of the SVA team, they continue to play a key role in the development of Afghanistan’s education sector.
