December 27, 2019: With much serene honor, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat attended the appreciation ceremony and posthumous awarding of the Order of the Rising Sun on the late Hon. Dr. Tetsu Nakamura to his widow and oldest daughter at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tokyo.

On behalf of the people and Government of Japan, H.E. Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe presented to Mrs. Naoko Nakamura, widow of the late Hon. Dr. Nakamura, a letter of appreciation to Nakamura's family for his humanitarian contributions to Afghanistan's development. Following the presentation of the letter, H.E. Prime Minister Abe presented Mrs. Nakamura with decorations for the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette; one of the highest orders bestowed upon civilians.
H.E. Prime Minister Abe conveyed to Mrs. Nakamura that her commendable late husband “made glittering achievements in years of medical and other service for Afghan people and refugees, … promoted friendship between Japan and Afghanistan, and made tremendous contributions for advancing international humanitarian support and international cooperation.” In reply Mrs. Nakamura said she still feels very sad, but that she sincerely hopes aid to Afghanistan will continue, now that many people have shown their support for her husband’s life’s work, and that “I hope green land will continue to spread in Afghanistan.” Once again, and on behalf of the people of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed sincere and profound gratitude for the achievements by Hon. Dr. Nakamura and Peshawar-kai noting that they would be forever grateful.

December 24, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to meet with Hon. Dr. Akihiko Tanaka, President of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), at the GRIPS campus in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Najibullah Safi, Counselor and DCM for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat extended is appreciation to Hon. Dr. Akihiko Tanaka for making time in his schedule to meet. In return, Hon. Dr. Tanaka thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his sincere words and for making time in his schedule to meet.
Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his hopes that GRIPS would endeavor to consider increasing scholarship opportunities for Afghan students at their institution in order to help continue the human capacity development of Afghanistan for maximizing progress. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also took the opportunity to express his gratitude on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the steadfast, benevolent support by the people and Government of Japan in helping Afghanistan during the process of rebuilding and actualization of peace over the years. Hon. Dr. Tanaka assured H.E. Dr. Mohabbat that he would see to it that any well-qualified Afghan applicants to GRIPS would receive a top-notch education at their institution and that the Ph.D. and Master's programs at GRIPS have highly competitive entrances but that hopefully in the future there might be a way to secure more scholarship opportunities for Afghan students. Additionally, he expressed his hopes for building stronger and more profound relations between Afghanistan and the international community so that together they could assure the cooperative and all-inclusive route to regional, and thus global, peace.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat warmly welcomed Mr. Nitta to the embassy and expressed gratitude to him for making time in his schedule to meet for a courtesy call. Further, he thanked Mr. Nitta for the support and interest the JTB has given to the Embassy of Afghanistan over the years. In return, Mr. Nitta expressed his thanks to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat for finding time in his busy schedule to meet with him, for the warm welcome, and for his kind words.
Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) is not only the largest travel agency in Japan but also one of the largest travel agencies worldwide. Over the years it has expressed great interest in being able to provide tours and travel packages to Afghanistan as well as having provided much assistance towards spreading the information of Afghanistan’s rich cultural heritage, breathtaking vistas, and incomparable hospitality to the Japanese public in conjunction with the Afghan Embassy in Tokyo. Therefore, Mr. Nitta and H.E. Dr. Mohabbat discussed ways in which to help broaden and increase the opportunities for Japanese to foster their interest and knowledge about Afghanistan as well as the future potential for tourism to the country.

Mr. Khaled Omran Sqait Sarhan Alameri, Ambassador for the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Japan, at the Emirati Embassy in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Najibullah Safi, Counselor and DCM for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
H.E. Ambassador Mr. Khaled Alameri extended a sincere and warm welcome to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and thanked him for arranging to meet. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended thanks to H.E. Mr. Alameri for the warm relations and cooperation between Afghanistan and the UAE over the years which has helped contribute to Afghanistan’s mission of progress, prosperity, and peace for the region. He also thanked the people and Government of the United Arab Emirates for their support of the people and Government of Afghanistan over the years. Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his deep hope and desire for the cooperation between the two entities to strengthen further especially in the realms collaborative economic enhancements. H.E. Mr. Alameri concurred with H.E. Dr. Mohabbat and reciprocally conveyed his hope and desires to see further cooperation between their respective countries and embassies to promote economic growth. All present further discussed ways to advance investment in the economics and import/export of Afghanistan with further economic cooperation among Afghanistan-UAE-Japan. Following the exchange, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat greeted Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado, and through her thanking the people and Government of Japan for their steadfast and benevolent support of Afghanistan over the years on its quest for progress, prosperity, and peace. In return, Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words as well for his participation in the monthly meeting of the ASJ in which he is also a Board Member.

December 17, 2019: It was an honor and pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to have a lunch meeting with H.E. Mr. Mitsuji Suzuka, Ambassador of Japan to Afghanistan, in Tokyo.
H.E. Dr. Bashir Mohabbat expressed his gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Mr. Suzuka for making time in his schedule to meet once again and share lunch together allowing themselves the opportunity to discuss important matters in the continuing development of bilateral relations between Japan’s Embassy in Kabul and Afghanistan’s Embassy in Tokyo. In return, H.E. Mr. Suzuka expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet again and discuss topics of importance to both of their respective missions. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked H.E. Mr. Suzuka for the very longtime friendly relationship between Japan and Afghanistan and expressed sincere gratitude for the steadfast and benevolent support and assistance of the noble nation of Japan which has stood by Afghanistan throughout the rebuilding progression as it strives for further peace and prosperity in an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process.
In return, H.E. Mr. Suzuka thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words, and assured him of Japan’s continued support of Afghanistan in its development. Most importantly, H.E. Mr. Suzuka thanked the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the outpouring of care and exemplary honored respect for the late Dr. Tetsu Nakamura as well as all of the efforts in conveying his body back to Japan; noting how moved the Japanese people were at the reverence shown Dr. Nakamura and his family including the great honor of having H.E. President Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani carry Dr. Nakamura's coffin. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat humbly thanked Japan and her people for fostering as wonderful a humanitarian as Hon. Dr. Nakamura who helped Afghanistan unfalteringly throughout his life. Ms. Seiko Noda, Member of the House of Representatives and the former Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, Minister in charge of Women's Empowerment, and Minister of State for the Social Security and Tax Number System, at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.
Hon. Ms. Seiko Noda is not only a long time personal friend of H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat but also a long time friend of the Embassy and Afghanistan. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked Hon. Ms. Noda for the invitation as well as expressed, on behalf of people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, deep appreciation to the Japanese government through Hon. Ms. Noda for its continuing support of Afghanistan’s reconstruction process which is paving the way for increased greater livelihood, peace and prosperity for the Afghan people. Additionally, he expressed his humble happiness at having such a true friend of Afghanistan.
In return, H.E. Ms. Seiko Noda expressed her sincere gratitude for the kind words as well as for H.E. Ambassador Mohabbat’s attendance at the event. Further she stated that she would continue to do all in her capacity to make sure Japan continued to stand by Afghanistan, as it is a place very near to her heart, well into the future. The United Nations Economic and Social Council, which is the main institution of United Nations (ECOSOC), has certified DEVNET as a Category 1 (rank), to operate as a NPO/NGO organization. It was founded in 1986 in Rome, Italy through the efforts of founder Mr. Robert Savio and Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali who was the Secretary-General at the time. It is a global information network system of technology, economy and trade with the aim of promoting exchange and economic cooperation between developing countries and between developed countries. DEVNET aims to promote a better quality of life for people in the world, and the main objective is to provide access to the necessary "knowledge", "real-experience" and "investment funds."
While at the event, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with others of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, diplomats with missions in Japan, members of Japanese government, political leaders, and other distinguished guest present in honor of the occasion.

December 14, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the International Symposium hosted by the Government of Japan in the North Korean Human Rights Abuses Awareness Week at Lino Hall in Tokyo.
According to Japan’s Ministry of Justice website for the event, “the issue of the abduction by North Korea is a matter of grave concern pertaining to the sovereignty of Japan as well as the lives and safety of the Japanese citizens and the Japanese government continues to inject maximum effort by mobilizing all available resources within the government to realize the return of all abductees at the earliest possible timing. At the same time, close cooperation with countries concerned, including United States, is essential for the resolution of the abduction issue, and our government has been taking advantage of every possible opportunity on the diplomatic front of multilateral frameworks and bilateral consultations to raise the issue of abduction.” Opening remarks were given by H.E. Mr. Yoshihide Suga, Chief Cabinet Secretary and Minister in Charge of the Abduction Issue, who spoke on the relevancy to the international community of collaborative efforts to help resolve the issue.
The opening was followed by an appeal by the families of the victims, a panel discussion by authorities on the issue, and a mini concert in honor of those who are still unaccounted for. While at the event, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure to meet and speak with others of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, diplomats with missions in Japan, members of government, and other distinguished guests all present for the important symposium.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat warmly welcomed Mr. Gan to the embassy and expressed gratitude to him for making time in his schedule to meet for a courtesy call. Further, he thanked Mr. Gan for the hard work and support he and all the members of UNITAR have given to Afghanistan over the years across countless sectors. The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in Hiroshima has been committed to training people from post-conflict zones. December 11, 2019:H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat solemnly attended the funeral for Doctor Tetsu Nakamura, in his home prefecture of Fukuoka. The service was held in Fukuoka City, North of his hometown of Omuta. The service was attended by over thirteen hundred people, including family, members of the Peshawar-kai Japanese humanitarian aid group, and Doctor Nakamura’s colleagues.
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat expressed, on behalf of the government and people of Afghanistan, a deep sadness at the loss of a great friend to Afghanistan who dedicated his life to changing the lives of Afghans for the better.

Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat two Certificates of Gratitude. The first to the representatives and employees of Kokuyo Co. Ltd. of Japan for their generous contribution of time and educational supplies to the Ministry of Education for distribution to be used by the children of Afghanistan. The second to H.E. Dr. Mohabbat himself for making one of his missions of office to help support and enhance contributions which help advance the education system for the benefit of children in Afghanistan.
Following the meeting and presentation of the Certificates of Appreciation, H.E. Minister Balkhi invited H.E. Dr. Mohabbat to a lunch hosted by him in honor of the occasion where they were further able to discuss topics of mutual interest in a very friendly and warm setting.

Dr. Mohabbat kindly requested Mr. Takahashi to arrange to meet with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul to advocate for prospective cooperative works between their two nations in the realms which fall under the charge of the Ministers of Health, Higher Education, Energy & Water, and Rural Development; to which Mr. Takahashi kindly agreed. They further discussed topics of mutual interest including international pledging for a Conference on Afghanistan which will be held late in 2020.

November 27, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the “High-Level Conference Between Afghanistan & Pakistan” event hosted by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Tokyo.

Delegations from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, headed by Hon. Mr. Mohammad Hasim Aurtaq, Deputy Minister of the Counter-Narcotics division for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, headed by Hon. Mr. Amjad Javid Saleemi, Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Narcotics Control, were brought together for this conference by the UNODC, Headed by Mr. Jeremy Milsom, to Japan with the assistance of their Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by H.E. Ambassador Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, Director-General and Assistant Minister for the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, as well as Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan. Also in attendance from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo was Mr. Najibullah Safi, Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission.

This high-level conference was facilitated under the framework of Japan’s White Paper on Development Cooperation 2017 (2-2 Assistance for Ensuring Peace, Stability and Security; Peace Building Assistance to Afghanistan and Pakistan) in order to review existing and emerging challenges faced by the two countries that were identified in earlier meetings; secure ownership of the Governments over the recommended mitigating measures and necessary capacity-building against trafficking of drugs, TIP and SOM, contraband smuggling and other TOC; as well as to promote policy level partnership to improve technical and operational collaboration of information, risk analysis, coordinated interdiction ops and investigations.

Following the conclusion of events on the 27th, the Delegations were invited to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo where H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and all of the diplomats were happy to host a luncheon in honor of the conference. In his remarks to the delegations, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked the UN, all its agencies particularly the UNODC, the people and Government of Japan, as well as all those involved in the delegations for their hard work and efforts to bring their noble goals to fruition. Further, he spoke on the importance of working closely and bilaterally to help fight the common problems of drug trafficking and the crime ladened terror networks they finance. Remarks were also given by Hon. Mr. Saleemi thanking all participants and supporters of the conference hoping that the outcomes and steps towards achieving them they have laid out for this next phase will go smoothly and quickly to help bring about peace.

Also in attendance was Mr. Najibullah Safi, Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.

Mr. Uehara thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for making time in his schedule to meet and expressed his sincere thanks for the warm welcome. In return H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked him for his kind words and expressed his appreciation for Mr. Uehara’s request for meeting. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat, extended gratitude to the people and Government of Japan as is evident through the steadfast and benevolent care they have rendered over the years. Further he particularly thanked JICA for the long support and assistance to Afghanistan during the rebuilding process, and like others from the international community, striving to help bring further development, self-sufficiency, peace and security to Afghanistan. Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat discussed with them their four-years prospectus for future projects in Afghanistan, about the market for Afghan product in Japan, as well as the pledge to hold an international conference for global reach and to procure further commitment for assistance to Afghanistan through 2024. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also asked for JICA’s support in the burgeoning Afghanistan Cancer Foundation as well as expanding its rice based agriculture to the remaining provinces of Afghanistan.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat extended his best wishes on this auspicious day to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Said Khalifa Al-Busaidi of Oman to Japan. He further expressed his hopes to strengthen and deepen the relations between their respective countries. In return, H.E. Dr. Al-Busaidi expressed his appreciation to H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for the kind words and attendance at the celebration, as well as agreed to endeavor to maintain and strengthen positive relations between Oman and Afghanistan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat thanked Dr. Tadao Kakizoe for taking the time to meet with him. Additionally, he thanked the Japan Cancer Society and the National Cancer Center for all of their hard work and dedication in helping to fight the many horrible forms of cancer which affect everyone across the world. Further, and on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, he thanked the people and Government of Japan for the steadfast and benevolent assistance to Afghanistan over the past years,he also implored Dr. Kakizoe and the Japan Cancer Society to help support and advance the Afghanistan Cancer Society. In return, Dr. Kakizoe thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and promised that he will search to find the best fit resources in order to give optimal support to Afghanistan’s organization. Further, he gave an advisory brief on where to begin the bilateral discourse, good advice for the organization, and established introductory details for Afghanistan Cancer Society to communicate with the National Cancer Center of Japan and Ministry of Health; volunteering to help make the introductions with which to put the proper people into communication at each respective institution. All those present further discussed topics of mutual concern and interest.

On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended extreme gratitude for the support and assistance of the people and Government of the Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2001, including their contribution of troops to the ISF to help forward the peace mission in Afghanistan. Bosnia and Herzegovina has stood with Afghanistan as its led itself towards peace and helped to bring it to its current progress and achievements including assistance in helping it to secure its recent democratic elections as well as progress the Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process. In return, H.E. Mr. Berjan thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words, as well as expressed his hopes for continued good relations between themselves and their respective embassies in Tokyo, in the hope to further establishing stronger bilateral relations by opening an Embassy in Kabul in the future.

November 18, 2019: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor of meeting with Special Adviser to the Cabinet and Senior Fellow of Keidanren, the Hon. Mr. Isao Ijima, at his office in the Prime Minister’s secretariat in Tokyo.
Hon. Mr. Ijima is a longtime senior adviser of the Japanese government, currently serving as a direct adviser to His Excellency Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan. Previously, he advised former Prime Minister Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, and holds a seat in the Strategic Committee of advising firm Avisa Partners. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat began by thanking Hon. Mr Ijima and the Prime Minister’s office for successfully coordinating an excellent Official Visit meeting between H.E. President Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and H.E. Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe. Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his deep gratitude to the people and Government of the friendly and noble nation of Japan for their generous steadfast and benevolent support of Afghanistan over the years. Most importantly, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat kindly requested Hon. Mr. Ijima to use the influence of his office to help further investment by Japan in the private sector businesses of Afghanistan, particularly in mining natural and rare metals like lithium. As the lithium deposits found in Afghanistan are valued at one trillion USD, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan hopes that Japan will continue its generous support of the Islamic Republic’s mission to maximally utilize the resources at its disposal. The gentlemen further discusses holding a seminar for economic societies in Japan to promote investment in Afghanistan and import Afghanistan products at the Embassy in the near future.

November 13, 2019: His Excellency the Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of hosting a luncheon with six Afghan students in the Afghan Students Union of Japan, notably the outgoing and incoming President of the Afghan Student Union in Japan. This luncheon was also attended by the diplomats of the Embassy.
The students have the opportunity to study in Japan through programs such as JICA’s PEACE project, Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Scholarships, and the Japan Foundation endowments. The Embassy recognizes the importance of education for the future of the Islamic Republic’s mission towards self-sustainability, so it is pleased to be able to continue to support the future of our nation. This luncheon was hosted by the Embassy to recognize the achievements of the outgoing President of the Afghan Students Union in Japan, welcome the successor into the role for the next year, and to discuss opportunities and concerns of the Afghan students studying in Japan.

Ambassador Ms. Rabab Fatima of Bangladesh for the invitation to this occasion to bid farewell to her, as well as wished her the very best of luck in all her future endeavors. Further, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, he thanked her for the friendship and support the people and Government of Bangladesh have shown to Afghanistan over the years. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to meet with Mr. Masataka Nakahara, Visiting Senior Advising Expert and Project Leader on Afghanistan for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Project Leader for Capacity Development and Institutional Strengthening Project (CDIS) for the JICA-Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation & Livestock (MAIL) Support Office in Afghanistan as well as the Project for Rice-based Agriculture Development in Afghanistan (RIPA), who is a longtime personal friend of H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat, as well as a longtime friend of the people of Afghanistan, at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan. Also in attendance was Mr. Najibullah Safi, Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat once again warmly welcomed Mr. Nakahara to the Embassy stating how much he always appreciated his visits. In return, Mr. Nakahara expressed his deepest gratitude to H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for always finding time in his busy schedule to meet with him and, at this time, gave H.E. Dr. Mohabbat and Mr. Safi a briefing of his most recent trip to Afghanistan, mentioning that the project would be expanding itself into an additional 7 of the eastern provinces of Afghanistan. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed heartfelt thanks for Japan, and most notably JICA’s contribution to developing education, health, and agriculture both rurally and in urban areas in Afghanistan which will enable it to be self-sufficient in rice production in the years to come. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat attend the Miyazaki Prefecture Promotion Reception, co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Miyazaki Governor’s office at the Iikura Guest House in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Najibullah Safi, Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.

The event was held to introduce the guests to the many wonderfully unique aspects of local goods, products and features of Miyazaki Prefecture. There were several booths set up in the hall to display the features of the prefecture to the guests as well as foster networking. Opening remarks for the event were given by H.E. Mr. Toshimitsu Motegi, Minster of Foreign Affairs of Japan. While at the event, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with H.E. Foreign Minister Motegi and Hon. Mr. Hideo Higashikokubaru, Governor of Miyazaki Prefecture whom he thanked for the invitation to the wonderfully informative event as well as thanked them, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for the tireless dedication and benevolence the people and Government of Japan has shown to Afghanistan over the years in its reconstruction process and developing peace. In return, H.E. Foreign Minister Motegi and Hon. Mr. Higashikokubaru thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his attendance and expressed their wishes for continued and warm and friendly relations between Afghanistan and Japan.
Also in attendance were others of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, diplomats with missions in Japan, leading business people, and other dignified guests, several of whom H.E. Dr. Mohabbat and Mr. Safi met with and discussed many topics of mutual interest. Key to the mission of the Regional Promotion Seminar is to foster a depth of understanding about the various regions of Japan among foreign diplomats. As such, the interactions at this tremendous event did much to enhance and grow the bond between Japanese local governments, communities, and the diplomatic corps.
