2018.12.12 Presentation of High State Medal to H.E. the President of JICA

Presentation of High State Medal to H.E. the President of JICA.

S__2326536

December 12, 2018: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir had the honor of presenting in-person the Ghazi Mir Masjidi Khan High State Medal to H.E. Mr. Shinichi Kitaoka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency at the JICA Headquarters in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
S__2326532

On October 31st of this year, in recognition of their outstanding services towards promoting the relations between the people and Government of Afghanistan and Japan, His Excellency President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan via video conference to the Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, held a ceremony to present Honorary medals to five individuals affiliated with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for their contribution in assisting the Urban Development Sector of Afghanistan. At that time those medals were given by proxy to H.E. Mr. Mitsuji Suzuka, Ambassador of Japan to Kabul. As H.E. Mr. Kitaoka’s High State Medal has reached Japan, it was presented to him in-person by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat.
S__2326530

In his remarks, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat said there were not words sufficient enough to express just how incredibly grateful and extremely appreciative the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan are for the innumerable, magnificent ways in which JICA has helped contribute to creating a more developed, healthier, and prosperous Afghanistan. That although this medal is the highest of its kind to be awarded to an organization it is almost insufficient compared to how much JICA has given Afghanistan. That since he began working one-on-one with JICA back in 2003 during his tenure as Second Secretary, he has witnessed the tremendous benefit of JICA’s generosity, support, and true friendship through countless programs which have brought the country progressively forward across many sectors; to a point where it will reach self-sustainability in rice production by 2021, is continually improving its democratic process, is refining the human capacity development, is improving the quality of life for Afghans, and is taking charge of leading the path towards global and regional peace in an Afghan-own Afghan led process.
H.E. Dr. Mohabbat personally invested the pin onto H.E. Mr. Kitaoka in the presence of previous recipients: Mr. Shohei Hara, Director-General of the South Asia Department, JICA; and Mr. Takeshi Watanabe, Chief Representative of JICA Afghanistan Office, as well as the other dignitaries present for the meeting.
