December 25, 2015: The inauguration ceremony of the “Hidden Treasures from The National Museum, Kabul” held at Kyushu National Museum, Fukuoka, Japan. For this occasion, His Excellency Deputy Minister of Information and Culture of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. Zardasht Shams visited and attended the ceremony in Fukuoka by representing the Government of Afghanistan. Mr. Ahmad Bashir Ghafoori, First secretary, accompanied H.E. Deputy Minister Mr. Shams and other Afghan delegation members to extend the assistance of the embassy in Tokyo. Mr. Ghafoori congratulated the ceremony and exhibition organizers, chief staffs of Kyushu National Museum for the success of the ceremony as well as wished the successful exhibition which publicly opens from Jan. 01 to Feb. 14, 2016.

Particularly, it was a great honor and pleasure of H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and Madam for having had an opportunity to exchange greetings directly and personally with Their Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, as well as His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito, which only was allowed to limited number of distinguished guests. H.E. Dr. Fatimie conveyed the best wishes to the Imperial Family of Japan, on behalf of the people, government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and H.E. Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah. H.M. Emperor expressed his appreciation and gratefulness of H.E. Dr. Fatimie’s words, and his interest in knowing the recent regional development. For which H.E. Ambassador had a great pleasure of briefing Their Majesties Emperor and Empress.

December 18, 2015: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had a pleasure of attending the National Day reception of Qatar. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his congratulations, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to H.E. Ambassador of Qatar, Mr. Yousef Mohamed Bilal, and wish to maintain the good relationship of Afghanistan and Qatar. Qatari Ambassador H.E. Mr. Bilal greeted H.E. Dr. Fatimie and thanked him of the attendance and kind words. H.E. Mr. Bilal agreed to what H.E. Dr. Fatimie had expressed, and he, too, wished to further promote the cooperation among the two countries. H.E. December 17, 2015: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had an honor and pleasure of attending a reception celebrating the birthday of His Majesty Emperor, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. At the reception, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had an honor to converse with H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and extended his excellency’s gratitude for the Japan’s assistance to the country, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. H.E. Dr. Fatimie also expressed his wishes for H.M. Emperor’s long and prosperous health. H.E. Minister Kishida kindly responded with appreciation to H.E. Ambassador’s words, and wished to maintain a good relation of the two countries.


It was also an honor for H.E. Ambassador to meet and exchange words with H.E. Mr. Yoji Muto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, and honorable Mrs. Muto. H.E. Dr. Fatimie appreciated H.E. Mr. Muto for Japan’s continuous efforts of cooperations, and expressed the hope to keep working closely in the new year as well. H.E. State Minister appreciated and agreed to work for the betterment of Japan and Afghanistan relation.
The reception was attended by chiefs of diplomatic missions stationed in Japan and many distinguished guests, whom H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also had pleasure of meeting.

17/12/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Hosts a Lunch Reception at the Embassy for Welcoming Deputy Minister of MAIL and the SATREPS Participants

December 17, 2015: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie hosted a lunch reception at the embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo to welcome H.E. Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Mr. Mir Amanuddin Haidari and the participants of Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) jointly provided by Japan Science and Technology Agency and Japan International Cooperation Agency. The participants were on their trip to Japan, as this was the last of 5 years project on wheat breeding program. They attended project presentation and discussion session at Yokohama City University, as well as paid visit to Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery; and NGO organizations.

The reception was opened by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie’s remark to warmly welcome the participants and praise their efforts, of which builds the foundation of nation building. At the same time, H.E. Ambassador expressed his appreciation, on behalf of the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the participants, Yokohama City University for leading the project under Professor Ban, and related authorities for continuously assisting and enabling the half of a decade long programs.


H.E. Deputy Minister Mr. Haidari expressed his appreciation to the organizers of the trip and project sessions as a whole, and stated he was looking forward to bringing the lessons and experiences earned to be utilized for the further reconstruction of the country.

December 16, 2015: Mr. Ahmad Bashir Ghafoori, First secretary, participated the workshop titled SATREPS Afghanistan Wheat Project Joint Coordinated Strategic Meeting held at Yokohama City University. In this program, His Excellency Mr. Mir Amanuddin Haidari, Technical Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan participated, accompanied by five other participants.
By representing the embassy of Afghanistan, Mr. Ghafoori delivered a remark and observed the session. In addition, he accompanied H.E. Deputy Minister Mr. Haidari and the participants to their meeting with high rank officials at Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery of Japan; and the embassy of Mexico in Japan.

December 14, 2015: His Excellency Mr. Ahmad Zia Massoud, the President’s Extraordinary Representative for the Reform and Good Governance, and former Vice President of the Islamice Republic of Afghanistan, has been on the official visit to Japan. In honor of his excellency’s visit, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie hosted a dinner reception at the embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo. 

The reception started by the opening remarks of H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie. It is such a great honor and pleasure to welcome H.E. Zia Massoud in Japan, who has been playing such a critical role to plan and implement the course of the country, and the key person with regards to the relation with Japan concerning the achievements of Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan held in 2012 and its follow up.


The embassy had an honor and pleasure to have a remark delivered by the Honorable Mr. Shohei Okashita, Member of the House of Representatives, on behalf of the Honorable Mr. Toshihiro Nikai, Member of the House of Representatives and president of Japan-Afghanistan Parliamentary Friendship League. Mr. Okashita noted that it is wonderful to welcome H.E. Zia Massoud in Japan, and wished two earthquake-prone countries, Japan and Afghanistan, would cooperate and the relation will be greater.

It was also a great pleasure to have Madam Sadako Ogata share her remarks. She expressed her warm welcome to H.E. Zia Massoud, and shared her view of Afghanistan where she once had worked closely, stating “Afghanistan has such a great culture, beautiful terrain, potentials and people have been empowered” therefore she encouraged to carry on the progress.





Dr. Asadulla Azam, president of Afghan students union in Japan, also expressed his greetings and welcome to H.E. Massoud, as well as shared his experience and gratitude for the educational assistance by Japan.


H.E. Mr. Massoud expressed his gratitude for all the attendees at the reception, as well as extended his appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and the embassy for the reception. His Excellency Massoud stated that despite many challenges the country has faced and still is facing, it is moving forward to a positive direction. H.E. Mr. Massoud also added his appreciation for the assistance by Japan, and it has been an inspiring trip to have come, observed and communicated with counterparts.

The reception was attended by many distinguished guests including the Honorable Mr. Toru Miki, Member of House of Councillors; H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan to Afghanistan; the Honorable Mr. Masaaki Takei, Mayor of Minato-ku; Mrs. Kuniko Matsunami, Executive of Japan Afghanistan Association; Mr. Masami Zeniya, Executive Director of Tokyo National Museum; and many more from Foreign Ministry of Japan, Minato-ku, and Afghan students and residents. Afghan dishes were served for all, and it was concluded very successfully with H.E. Mr. Massoud conversed with all Afghan students and guests attended.



The embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo, Japan extended the support for H.E. Mr. Zia Massoud’s visit, under the leadership of H.E. Ambassdor Dr. Fatimie, and wishes the best and success for H.E. Mr. Massoud’s a week-long official trip to Japan as well as it help continuously maintaining the good relationship between Afghanistan and Japan.

03/12/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Welcomes a Visit by Mr. Nishinaga of MOFA Japan

It was a pleasure of His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie to welcome Mr. Tomofumi Nishinaga, newly appointed Director of Second Middle Eastern Division, Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, for his visit to the embassy.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie congratulated Mr. Nishinaga for his appointment and appreciated the cooperation of Japan with Afghanistan, on behalf of people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Japan’s assistance to Afghanistan for over last decade has brought many impacts to promote free society and better life in Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador told Mr. Nishinaga. In addition, H.E. Dr. Fatimie expressed he is looking forward that the embassy of Afghanistan in Japan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will work closely to further promote the good relationship of the two countries to make it even better.

Mr. Nishinaga, in response, thanked H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and the embassy for their hospitality and warm welcome. He expressed that he has been involved in Afghanistan related issues at other previous sections for a while, and he, too, looks forward good achievements on the bilateral relation. Mr. Nishinaga also noted that Japan will continue its support to Afghanistan.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had a pleasure of attending the reception of the 44th Anniversary of the National Day of the United Arab Emirates. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie, on behalf of people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, congratulated Mr. Mutaz Abdulla Abduljaleel Mohamed Alfaheem, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the U.A.E., for the occasion, and expressed his gratitude for the continuing cooperation of the U.A.E. In return Mr. Alfaheem expressed the appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie for his attendance and kind words, as well as to assure to work closely for further betterment of the relation. 27/11/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends Jordanian Ambassador's Lecture for NCAF

November 27, 2015: 
His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had an honor of attending a lecture by H.E. Mr. Demiye Zuher Haddad, Ambassador of Jordan, organized by Nihon Chukinto Africa Fujinkai. Mr. Ahmad Bashir Ghafoori, first secretary, accompanied H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie.

The lecture was regarding Syrian refugee crisis and the current regional situation. H.E. Ambassador Haddad explained that the government of Jordan not only has accepted some 1.4 million Syrian refugees to the country, but also has been providing them foods, facilities, medical services and educational opportunities. As the major host of the refugees along with Lebanon and Turkey, H.E. Mr. Haddad expressed the crisis will end and the situation will be improved as soon as possible based on their government's efforts.

27/11/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends UPF Meeting

November 27, 2015: 
It was an honor for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie to attend 25th Peace Diplomats Forum in Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the UN, organized by Universal Peace Federation (UPF-Japan), and supported by United Nations Development Programme Representation Office in Tokyo. Mr. Ahmad Bashir Ghafoori and Ms. Farima Orya Afzali, both first secretaries, also accompanied H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie. The main part of the event was the keynote speech by Mr. Tetsuo Kondo, Director of the UNDP Representation Office in Tokyo, titled “Actions toward Achievement of the SDGs: At the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the UN,” explaining the Sustainable Development Goals discussed at the UN SDGs Summit on September 25th this year of its challenges and 17 goals, which was highly informative.

26/11/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Welcomes Afghan NGO Members Visiting Japan

November 26, 2015: 

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie warmly welcomed Afghan Non-Governmental Organization/Civil Society Organization members who were on their visit to Japan for the part of capacity building project. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed the importance of the partnership between Afghan and Japanese Civil Society to engage together to reach shared goals. Highlighting NGO activities in Afghanistan in last 14 years, H.E. Dr. Fatimie emphasized that the government supports their activities. In addition, H.E. Ambassador noted that Japanese government’s support and assistance have been crucial for the civil society’s activities, and He hopes the achievements will be made continuously. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also praised and encouraged the attended NGO members for their daily efforts, as well as appreciated their Japanese counterpart, Peace Winds Japan, AAR Japan, Civil Sophia and Japan Volunteer Center for their leadership and assistance.

25/11/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Visits Nihon University as a Guest Speaker

November 25, 2015: 
It was such a great honor and pleasure for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie to have had an opportunity to speak at Nihon University’s Mishima Station North Exit Campus as a guest lecturer. For the class of Nihon University’s College of International Relations, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was invited, and delivered a lecture titled “Japan, from the perspective of Afghanistan.”

H.E. Dr. Fatimie’s lecture took place in the biggest hall of the recently built new school building, with the room full of IR major students interested in Afghanistan. H.E. Ambassador spoke that Afghanistan and Japan have historically shared some cultural aspects through the interaction via Silk Road. He also added that despite the distance, two countries have much in common, rather than difference. Because of the historical friendly relationship, Afghanistan likes Japan, Japanese products, and respect Japanese culture very much.
The lecture was received very positively by the entire class, including Dean of College Professor Buichiro Watanabe, Professor Katsuyuki Ishida, Professor Chizu Fukui, and Assistant Professor Hideyuki Kumaki. It was a great pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie for their kind hospitality for His visit to Mishima, Shizuoka prefecture, and the successful lecture coordination.

Mr. Kim Young Sam, former-president of the Republic of Korea. On behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his deep commiserations for the passing of a great leader of this era and his wishes for the people in the Republic of Korea to carry on with hopeful days as soon as possible.

Ambassador Mr. Khalid bin Hashil bin Mohammaed Al-Muslahi of Oman, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency’s sincere congratulations for the occasion and wishes for deeper and prosperous bilateral relation as well as the exchange of people of Afghanistan and Oman. In return, H.E. Ambassador Al-Muslahi expressed His Excellency’s appreciation to H.E. Mr. Karimi Visits and Speaks at Tokai University for a Peace Studies Lecture on Afghanistan

November 19, 2015: Mr. M. Yasir Karimi, Second secretary, visited Tokai University’s Shonan Campus by a kind invitation of Assistant Professor Mr. Jason Pratt to deliver a lecture for his Peace Studies class as a guest speaker. As Mr. Pratt was a successful Public Affairs Officer of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan before assuming the current teaching post at the university, all the embassy staffs visited the school were delighted to meet him again, and to know his continuing effort to offer an educational opportunity to students regarding Afghanistan.
Mr. Karimi spoke on Afghanistan’s peace process, specifically about Bonn Agreement, constitution, elections, and High Peace Council. It was a pleasure to have received positive reactions and remarks from Mr. Pratt and many of attended students.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie and Madam Fatimie had the honor of attending the farewell reception in honor of Her Excellency Ambassador of Republic of India to Japan, Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa.

Not only Afghanistan and India have enjoyed a friendly neighboring bilateral relationship, but also H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and H.E. 17/11/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Meets with Professor Ishida

It was a pleasure for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie to warmly welcome Professor Katsuyuki Ishida of Nihon University, a former State Minister of Cabinet Office of Japan, and a former Member of House of Representatives, to the embassy. Prof. Ishida showed H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie his chapan (Afghan traditional cloth) which was presented by then-President of Afghanistan H.E. Hamid Karzai at the time he had visited Afghanistan in 2010 as a Chairman of the Special Committee on Anti-piracy and Anti-terrorism of House of Representatives.

Prof. Ishida visited for the briefing and coordination for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie’s upcoming lecture visit to Nihon University, which the meeting was very fruitful.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie paid a visit to the Embassy of France in Japan to express, on behalf of people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, a heartfelt sympathy and condolences, and wishes for quick recoveries to the people and the Government of the Republic of France, particularly to the family of the victims and those who were affected by the horrific multiple terror attacks in Paris on November 13th, 2015. H.E. Ambassador also expressed to condemn such barbaric and intolerable action that represents no religion, must be stopped for people's peaceful and prospered lives.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had a pleasure of attending the Band Festival of Japan Self-Defense Forces in celebration of JSDF Anniversary, organized by the Ministry of Defense of Japan. This year marks the 51st time of the annual event, and the band performances were done by teams of Ground Self-Defense Force, Maritime Self-Defense Force, Air Self-Defense Force, 302nd Honor Guard Company, Jiei-Diako (Japanese Drums) by SDF, Honor Guard Unit of National Defense Academy, the United States Army Japan Band, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force Band, U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet Band, U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific-Asia in Japan and Indian Army Band, etc.
Besides all the bands’ astonishing performances, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had a great pleasure and honor to observe the opportunity with the Honorable Mr. Takeshi Fujimaki, and the Honorable Mr. Kazuyuki Hamada, both respected Members of the House of Councillors. H.E. Dr. Fatimie extended His Excellency’s gratitude on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for Japan’s continuous and consistent reconstruction assistance to Afghanistan. The Honorable Mr. Fujimaki in response appreciated H.E. Ambassador’s words, and agreed to maintain and further develop the friendship of Japan and Afghanistan.

12/11/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends Reception of Aomori Prefecture Promotion

November 12, 2015: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had an honor and pleasure of attending the reception for the promotion of Aomori’s abundant culture, attractive tourist destinations, and local products, organized by Aomori Prefecture in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Following the presentation by H.E. Aomori Governor Mr. Shingo Mimura regarding the recent development ofShinkansen (bullet train) linkage to neighboring Hokkaido, exporting initiatives of local products, and rich culture at an unique location of Aomori, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had a pleasure to communicate with H.E. Governor Mr. Mimura. H.E. Ambassador also met with H.E. Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker of the House of Representatives; and Member of House of Representatives Ms. Chizuko Takahashi, expressed on behalf of the people and the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the gratitude for the assistance Japan has been providing to Afghanistan for the reconstruction. It was also a pleasure for H.E. Dr. Fatimie to exchange with the Honorable Speaker of Aomori Prefectural Assembly Mr. Etsuro Shimizu; Mr. Satoshi Kobayashi, Senior Staff of Aomori Prefectural Government; and Mr. Masayuki Katori, Senior Analyst of Nippon Export and Investment Insurance.
