Jun 30, 2018: Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, had the great pleasure to attend the 10th anniversary of the Japan Tournament FISB Speedball World Club Championship 2018. The event was held at the Koshigaya City Gymnasium, in Saitama, Japan.

While at the event, Mr. Agah had the opportunity to engage with Afghanistan and other represented athletes in the Speedball profession. Mr. Agah had the pleasure to meet with Mr. Zabihullah Karimullah and Mr. Rafiullah Karim, both of which are Afghanistan players of the Speedball sport and participating members of the tournament. Mr. Agah thanked both Mr. Karimullah and Mr. Karim for their earnest work in the tournament and deeply appreciated the positive impact they have in representing Afghanistan here in Japan. Mr. Karimullah and Mr. Karim returned their gratitude to Mr. Agah and thanked him for the kind words and promised to continue to create positive relationships with competing countries, preserving the high standard of sportsmanship that Afghanistan athletes strive to maintain. They further discussed topics of mutual interest.

June 30, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of attending the Reception on the occasion celebrating the Independence Day for the United States of America hosted by the Tokyo American Club and lunch at the Tokyo American Club, Japan.
On behalf of the people and Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, it was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat to be the only Ambassador with a mission in Japan to join the celebration of the United States of America's Independence Day hosted by the Tokyo American Club. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his sincerest congratulations on this most auspicious occasion to Mr. Michael Alfant, Representative Governor of the Tokyo American Club and Group Chairman & CEO of Fusion Systems. In return, Mr. Alfant thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his attendance and kind words. Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended his gratitude for the support and assistance of the people and Government of the United States of America over the years during the rebuilding process and actualization of peace.
Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat had the honor of meeting and speaking with Mr. Joseph M. Young, Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy of the United States of America in Japan; Hon. On behalf of the people and Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat thanked for the invitation to this auspicious occasion to H.E. Ambassador Mr. Yousef M. Bilal as well as wished him the best of luck in his future endeavors. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his sincerest thanks to the people and Government of Qatar for their benevolent assistance to Afghanistan over the years on its road to securing peace. In return, H.E. Mr. Bilal thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his attendance and kind words, and wished for the continuation of profound relations between The State of Qatar and Afghanistan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat extended his appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Asad M. Khan, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Japan, for the invitation to this event and congratulated him on this photo exhibition. In return, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Khan thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his attendance and for his kind words on this occasion. Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his earnest hope for the sincere cooperation and the continuation of developing peace in the region. Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat had the honor of meeting and speaking with others of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, Diplomats with missions in Japan, and members of several Governments present for the event. Mr. Nobuteru Ishihara, the Chairman of the Parliamentary League of Japan, E.U., France, the Philippines, and Palau, former Minister of Economic Revitalization, former Minister in charge of Total Reform of Social Security and Tax, and former Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy; and Hon. Mr. Hirotaka Ishihara, former State Minister of the Cabinet Office and former Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan; both currently members of the House of Representatives Japan, and both long time friends of the embassy and Afghanistan, at the Ambassador's residence inside the embassy. Also in Attendance were Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary; Dr. Rahim Azimi, First Secretary; Mr. Asif Agah; Second Secretary; and Mr. Abdulzaman Akbari, Third Secretary, all representing the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.

Minister Hara thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for making time in his schedule to meet and expressed his sincere thanks for his warm welcome. In return H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked him for his kind words and expressed his appreciation for Mr. Hara’s time for meeting again for a working lunch. Further, and on behalf of the people and Government of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat, extended his gratitude for the long support and assistance of the people and Government of the noble nation of Japan which has stood with Afghanistan during the rebuilding process, and like others from the international community, striving to help bring further peace and security to Afghanistan.

They discussed their wishes for continued growth in relations between Afghanistan and the Maldives. H.E. June 23, 2018: To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Indonesia-Japan Diplomatic Relations, Dr. Rahim Azimi, the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, joined with great honor the Music Performance of the Resonanz Children's Choir and Angklung Ensemble of the SMA 3 High School of Bandung at the Yebisu Garden in Tokyo.
Dr. Azimi showed his greatest appreciation for the invitation to the concert and showed a keen interest in the music. Most importantly, Dr Azimi celebrated and blessed the strong Indonesia-Japan relations while he expressed his sincerest gratitude from the Embassy and the people of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan towards both sides for their generous succor in regards to rebuilding, supporting, and including Afghanistan in international affairs. June 22, 2018: It was an honor and pleasure for Dr. Azimi, First Secretary, to attend the 25th Annual Convention and Reception hosted by the Japan Nut Association at the invitation of Mr. Hiroto Nakajima, Chairman of the Japan Nuts Association, at Tokai University Alumni Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Also in attendance was Ms. Imanishi, Assistant for Economic and Commercial Affairs.
The reception following the Convention provided networking opportunities for its members that are engaged in the nut and dried fruits business in Japan to meet and exchange information on current and future prospects in the industry. Furthermore, Dr. Azimi had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Hon. Mr. Nakajima, Chairman of the Japan Nut Association, to whom he expressed his heartfelt thanks for hosting the convention and establishing the networking exchange between members of the Japan Nut Association and countries participating in the industry. In return, Mr. Nakajima thanked Dr. Azimi for his kind words and expressed his sincerest hope that their two countries, Afghanistan and Japan, continue to strengthen their relations both culturally and economically and for a prosperous future in this industry.

Also in attendance was His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss matters concerning the current options and available prefectural locations that could potentially host Afghanistan during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympics’ Games. June 21, 2018: It was a great honor for Dr. Rahim Azimi, the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and Mr. Abdulzaman Akbari, Third Secretary and Human Resource Development of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to join the Regional Promotion Seminar of the 2018 fiscal year jointly organised by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the local governments of Hagi (Yamaguchi Prefecture), Niigata Prefecture, the Goto Islands (Nagasaki Prefecture), and Yabu City (Hyogo Prefecture) at the Banquet Rooms "Pegasus" and Galaxy" in the Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo. The Seminar was separated into two sessions:

During the first session of the seminar, Hagi City presented Hagi Pottery and “Natsumikans”; which are types of oranges unique to Yamaguchi Prefecture. Following, Niigata Prefecture presented the world’s first academic discipline about sake (rice wine): “Sakeology”. The Goto islands promoted their hidden Christian sides within the Nagasaki region while Yabu City held a presentation about “Asakura Sansho” which is considered a magic spice.

The second session gave visitors the unique opportunity to experience Hagi City’s pottery painting. Also, Niigata offered visitors the chance to taste 12 brands of sake while the Goto Islands substitute the sake with their delicious, local delicacies: hand-stretched Udon noodles and Tuna Sashimi. Yabu City gave a mesmerizing Calligraphy live performance and promoted the Asakura Sanshi and its yuzu citrus products (which are famous citrus fruits in Hyogo Prefecture). The seminar’s overal purpose was to contributed and to enhance foreign diplomats’ understanding of Japan’s diverse regions. It also allowed the networking amongst local governments and diplomatic corps. Accordingly, Dr Azimi and Mr. Akbari mingled amongst the honorable diplomats and the local governments’ officials.

At the seminar, Dr Azimi and Mr. Akbari expressed their most sincere thanks and gratitude towards Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the present excellencies of diplomats, and the local governments’ officials for the invitation to the event. Also, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the local, Japanese government’s expressed their greatest words of thanks towards Dr. Azimi and Mr. Akbari, and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Both sides are looking forward to the more fruitful exchange of knowledge and collaboration in the future.

June 21, 2018: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of attending a meeting with H.E. Mr. Shinichi Kitaoka, President of JICA, at the JICA Headquarters in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
The purpose of this meeting was to personally hand H.E. Mr. Shinichi Kitaoka, President of JICA, an invitation packet to the Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan that will take place on November 27-28 2018. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat emphasized the importance and significance of this planned Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan in Geneva later this year -- jointly hosted by the Government of Afghanistan, United Nations, Joint Coordination & Monitoring Board, and the International Community. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed just how eager Their Excellencies the Ministers in Kabul were for the Japanese presence of H.E. Mr. Kitaoka, to attend this event and impart their views and participation in providing feedback on the National Priority Programs (NPPS) agreed to in the previous international conferences on Afghanistan.
H.E. Mr. Kitaoka thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for arranging to bring him the invitation packet for and expressed great eager in attending this significant event. In return, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked H.E. Mr. Kitaoka for hosting their meeting and for his continued effort in maintaining the relationship between Afghanistan and Japan. Further, he expressed his wholehearted thanks and appreciation for JICA of Japan for their continuous and benevolent assistance to Afghanistan over the years. H.E. Mr. Kitaoka assured H.E. Also in attendance was Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
The purpose of this meeting was to personally hand Hon. Mr. Matsuo an invitation packet to be passed on to H.E. Mr. Takehiko Nakao, President of Asian Development Bank, to the Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan that will take place on November 27-28 2018. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat emphasized the importance and significance of this planned Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan in Geneva later this year -- jointly hosted by the Government of Afghanistan, United Nations, Joint Coordination & Monitoring Board, and the International Community. Mr. Nakao, President of ADB, to attend this event and impart their views and participation in providing feedback on the National Priority Programs (NPPS) agreed to in the previous international conferences on Afghanistan.
Hon. Mr. Matsuo thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for arranging to bring him the invitation packet for H.E. Mr. Nakao from Their Excellencies the Ministers in Kabul, and promised to usher the packet to H.E. Mr. Nakao as well as convey the significance of attending and participating in the event. In return, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked Hon. Mr. Matsuo for hosting their meeting and for his continued effort in maintaining the relationship between Afghanistan and Japan. Further, he expressed his wholehearted thanks and appreciation for the ADB of Japan for their continuous and benevolent assistance to Afghanistan over the years. Hon. Mr. Matsuo assured H.E. June 19, 2018: Mr. Basir Hamdard, First Secretary and Head of the Political Affairs at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, had the great pleasure to join an exchange party at the Japan International Science and Technology Center (JISTEC) at the Tokyo Green Palace in Tokyo.
Mr. Hamdard expressed his gratitude towards the JISTEC for his invitation to the exchange party. He had an enjoyable time and was pleasantly surprised by JISTEC which put a lot of time and effort into organizing the party. Also, the JISTEC expressed its thanks towards Mr. Hamdard for his attendance and hopes that he would join upcoming events at the JISTEC. Both sides agreed to continue the conversation between both institutes, and look forward to extensive relations between them.
Additionally, Mr. Hamdard had the honor of meeting and speaking with several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, Diplomats with missions in Japan, and high ranking members of several Governments present with whom he discussed many topics of mutual interest.

Mr. Shunsuke Takeda, member of the House of Representatives and Liberal Democratic Party, who hosts the YouTube channel “CafeSta”. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended his warmest gratitude for the invitation and opportunity to speak on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan sharing photos about the Afghanistan seldom seen or known about, answering various questions concerning cultural and economic aspects of Afghanistan, and shared with them the delicious Afghan dishes of Kabuli Palao, Mantu, and Aush.

June 18, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of attending a reception and lecture on the subject "Tomorrow's National Defense" given by Hon. Mr. Misahisa Sato, Deputy Foreign Minister held at the Meiji Kinenkan in Tokyo, Japan.
Many notable member of Japanese government were present for the lecture and reception highlighting the hopeful course for the country's national defense system, including H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan. His Excellency Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Hon. Mr. Misahisa Sato, Deputy Foreign Minister and guest speaker at the Meiji Kinenkan reception. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended his deepest appreciation for the opportunity to attend the event and to further strengthen ties between Japan and Afghanistan. In return, Hon. Mr. Sato thanked H.E. Ambassador Mr. Paroz and his wife, Dr. Yulia Gusynina Paroz for hosting the lovely event and for courteously extending him an invitation to partake in discussions on current humanitarian issues and future action in cooperation with the Japanese Red Cross Society. Further, he sincerely thanked H.E. Mr. Paroz on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for Switzerland’s continuous support of Afghanistan during the process of reconstruction and actualizing peace.
