From the beginning of January to the end of March each year, the Embassy of Afghanistan has the pleasure of being one of the 36 participating embassies in the annual Minato-ku World Festival’s Stamp Rally which is an ongoing event that allows ordinary citizens to visit the participating embassies and learn about the culture, history, and contemporary progress of the country as well as see what an embassy looks like. Since 2016, over 2000 guests are received at the embassy each year to learn more about Afghanistan, and the Embassy is always listed as a most surprising and favorite visit by all guests and participants; so much so it is covered by media entities such as NHK, TV Asahi, TokyoMX News, and the Yomiuri Shimbun

This year's run differed from previous years as Public Relations Officer Ms. Allyson Diaz structured the visitation schedule to include a Saturday afternoon presentation day in order to best reach out to the community and have them learn more about Afghanistan on their visit. On Wednesdays, the interns of the Embassy’s Internship Program had the pleasure of talking to guests, answering their questions, telling them more about the similarities between Afghanistan and Japan, as well as giving them a tour of the embassy and the beautiful view of Tokyo Tower from the roof. On Fridays, guests were given an informative and entertaining presentation about Afghanistan and a guided tour of the embassy by Mr. Ashraf Baburi, Administrative & Accounting Affairs Officer for the Embassy. During the presentation, the guests were also provided with refreshments from Afghanistan giving them a taste of Afghanistan’s hospitality and food culture. Succeeding the presentation, there was a short question and answer section where all the visitors’ questions regarding Afghanistan, the history of the country, relations between Japan and Afghanistan as well as the differences and similarities between the two cultures were answered. The Public Relations Office hoped that by coming to the Embassy and receiving the hospitality, the visitors would feel like they have been to Afghanistan.
