Attending Lecture on the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election

August 31, 2016:Mr. Hamdard had the honor to meet Mr. Patrick McEachern, Deputy Chief of Foreign Policy and Bilateral Affairs of the Embassy of the United States of America in Tokyo. At their first meeting, Mr. Hamdard sincerely thanked the United States of America’s extremely generous support and ceaseless efforts to maintain peace and security in Afghanistan, its Asian neighbors, and indeed in the entire world. Mr. Hamdard also expressed his wish of working closely with Mr. McEachern and the Embassy of the United States of America in the future.

It was with a heavy heart for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie to visit the embassy of Italy for the condolence book signing in memory of the victims of the earthquake occurred on Aug. 24th. As H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie arrived, H.E. Mr. Domenico Giorgi, Ambassador of Italy, appeared to accompany him. H.E. Dr. Fatimie expressed his deepest condolences, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for the lost lives and suffering of all those affected, of the country long have been helping the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

August 26, 2016: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Meets with H.E. Ambassador Mr. Chin of Singapore His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had a pleasure of visiting and meeting H.E. Ambassador Mr. Chin Siat Yoon of Singapore, at the embassy of Republic of Singapore. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, as non-resident diplomatic representative, the years of assistance Singapore has provided to Afghanistan, particularly in the field of human capacity building. H.E. Ambassador Mr. Chin expressed a warm welcome to H.E. Dr. Fatimie, and Their Excellencies further discussed the issues of mutual interest including the upcoming Brussels Conference on Afghanistan, scheduled in early October.

August 26, 2016: Mr. Hamdard was very pleased to meet with Mr. Isami Takeda, Deputy Director of the Afghanistan Desk of the Second Middle East Division of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. They used this opportunity to discuss various issues that pertain to the interests of both Afghanistan and Japan, in addition to general pan-Asian state of affairs.

One topic that was of particular interest to both parties was Japan’s growing presence in Afghanistan in terms of infrastructure projects and economic investment. Following the recent gradual stabilization of Afghanistan, Japan, among many other states, has shown a growing interest in the great economic potential of the country, including its extremely lucrative mineral deposits.

Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, his deepest condolences on the passing of H.E. Mr. S. R. Nathan, former president of the Republic of Singapore, as well as expressed his sympathy to the entire nation.

August 21, 2016: Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Minister-Counsellor, took part in the ceremony of Mrs. Takako Yasuda, president of Sohga Kimono Institute based in Gifu, an influential and well-known kimono (Japanese national dress) instructor, as well as the president of Wa-no-Mirai, a non-profit organization.

The reception was held in honor of Mrs. Yasuda's receiving of an Honorary Citizen Award from Gifu City for promoting its art culture through kimono lessons and manners by cultural exchanges, not only domestically, but also internationally. Her associations and related parties, including NGO ASCA, Gifu-Nagara Soroptimist have been helping and assisting Afghanistan in the education field. The reception was attended by more than 400 dignitaries from the local Assembly, media, and cultural organizations. Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of seeing again the Honorable Mr. Shigemitsu Hosoe, Mayor of Gifu City, and offered thanks for Japan's continuing support of Afghanistan throughout the past years.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had the pleasure and honor of hosting a luncheon for H.E. Mr. Kaoru Shimazaki, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and esteemed diplomats warmly welcomed H.E. Mr. Shimazaki's visit to the embassy, and a friendly lunch was held at the Ambassador's residence.
H.E. Mr. Shimazaki expressed his appreciation for the hospitality of H.E. the Ambassador and the diplomats and expressed how honored he was to be invited for the luncheon. He also mentioned that he is grateful for the continuous relationship and support between Japan and Afghanistan. H.E. Dr. Fatimie expressed his appreciation, on behalf of the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for the noble nation Japan's commitment and long-time friendship, and he, too, hopes to maintain the good bilateral relationship.

They further discussed issues of mutual interest under an amicable atmosphere over Afghan cuisine.

August 3, 2016: Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Minister-Counsellor, attended the Cormorant-Fishing Party on the River Nagara in Gifu Prefecture, with Mrs. Mohabbat. The ceremony has been held every year at the invitation of His Majesty the Emperor. This year, it was attended by nearly 60 diplomats, and the Honorable Mr. Shigemitsu Hosoe, Mayor of Gifu City. At the ceremony, Dr. Mohabbat thanked Mr. Jiro Okuyama, Vice-Grand Master of the Ceremonies, Board of the Ceremonies, Imperial Household Agency for his invitation. Also, Dr. Mohabbat further expressed appreciation to him for the generous support of the people and government of Japan in assisting Afghan reconstruction, and wished for continuous friendship between Afghanistan and Japan.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his congratulations, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to Ms. Jimena Teresa Nasif Loayza, Chargés d'affaires ad interim. In return, Ms. Nasif thanked H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie for his kind word and attendance. H.E. Dr. Fatimie also had an opportunity to meet and converse with Their Excellencies Ambassadors and members of diplomatic missions stationed in Tokyo.

August 1, 2016: It was His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie's pleasure, yet with a feeling of lonesomeness, to attend the farewell reception for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Radu Serban of Romania. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie thanked H.E. Dr. Serban for his great work and effort in making good relationship between the embassies of Afghanistan and Romania. H.E. Dr. Fatimie also wished H.E. Dr. Serban's success in the next position. In return H.E. Ambassador Dr. Serban expressed his appreciation to H.E. Dr. Fatimie for his attendance, kind words, friendship, and wished to see each other again in the future.
H.E. Ambassador Fatimie also had a pleasure in meeting again with many Their Excellencies Ambassadors. With H.E. Mr. Viorel Isticioaia-Budura Ambassador of the European Union to Japan, Head of the Delegation, in particular, H.E. Dr. Fatimie had a productive discussion on the issues related to the upcoming Brussels Conference on Afghanistan.
