His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had an honor
and pleasure in attending the reception in the occasion of the first
visit to Japan by Mr. Filippo Grandi, 11th United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees who assumed his position on January 1st, 2016.
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the pleasure of congratulating Mr.
Grandi, and extended his gratitude on behalf of the Government of the
Islamic Republic of Afghanistan UNHCR's great support to Afghan refugees
over the years. In response, Mr. Grandi appreciated H.E. Ambassador's
words, and he assured their continued support to Afghan refugees.
H.E. Dr. Fatimie also had the great pleasure of meeting again the
Honorable Madam Sadako Ogata, former-UN High Commissioner for Refugees, a
long time friend of H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie, and discussed the
issues of their mutual interests. The reception was attended by many
Japanese officials, the Honorable Diet members, Their Excellencies
Ambassadors and diplomatic mission members.
