10/03/2016 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and H.E. Ambassador of the EU Visit Hon. DG Uemura at MOFA Japan

March 10, 2016: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie, together with H.E. Mr. Viorel Isticioaia-Budura, Ambassador of the European Union to Japan, had an honor and pleasure in meeting the Honorable Mr. Tsukasa Uemura, Director-General of Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Their Excellencies Ambassadors presented Hon. Mr. Uemura the invitation letter of Brussels Conference on Afghanistan, addressed to H.E. Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Shinzo Abe.
H.E. Ambassador Mr. Isticioaia-Budura of EU noted they cordially invite high ranking officials of Japanese government to the upcoming Brussels Conference, since Japan is one of the top donor to Afghan reconstruction. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie of Afghanistan expressed his appreciation, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to Japan and EU for their tremendous support and assistance to the country in a wide range of sectors. Additionally, H.E. Dr. Fatimie stated that Afghanistan is at its juncture point regarding the security and development process under the threat of terrorist networks. Therefore, strong commitments from the international community is much needed, and Afghanistan especially expects that Japan play a leading role.

In response, Hon. Mr. Uemura welcomed Their Excellencies Ambassadors and assured that the invitation letter will be passed to the appropriate channel. Mr. Uemura added by emphasizing the importance of the security and development of Afghanistan, the international community and the Government of Afghanistan both should be committed for their responsibilities towards peace and prosperity of Afghanistan.
