September 29, 2017: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of hosting the “Reception Honoring the Occasion of the International Meeting Concerning the Safeguarding of Bamiyan Heritage” at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo. The reception was attended by more than 120 honorable guests.
The Reception began with welcoming remarks by Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary, and opening remarks by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat, who thanked all guest for attending and wished them to have a successful symposium. Following the kind words by H.E. Dr. Mohabbat, remarks were made by H.E. Mr. Mohammad Rasoul Bawary, Acting Minister of Information and Culture for Afghanistan, Hon. Dr. Mechtild Rossler, Director of the Division for Heritage and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, and Prof. Masaki Miyasako, Director for Tokyo University of the Arts. Also in attendance were H.E. Ambassador Mr. Hiroshi Oka, Director-General of Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, and H.E. Ambassador Mr. Manabu Miyagawa, Director-General for Cultural Affairs, both from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; more than 85 UNESCO staff, scholars/academics, archeologists, and those who related to the Bamiyan Conference. Ambassador Mohabbat thanked all participants for what they are doing for safeguarding of Bamiyan heritages.
After speeches were given, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat took the opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest with various distinguished guests.
