September 26, 2017: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of making a courtesy call on His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Ahmad Younos S. Al Barrak of Saudi Arabia at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tokyo. Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First secretary and Political Affairs, was also in attendance.

H.E. Ambassador Mr. Al Barrak expressed his warm welcome to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and sincerely congratulated him on assuming the post as Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Japan. Additionally he wished H.E. Dr. Mohabbat the greatest of success in his endeavors throughout his mission remarking that he was certain to do so due to H.E. Dr. Mohabbat’s long time and experience in Japan. In return H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked H.E. Mr. Al Barrak for making time in his schedule for the meeting as well as for his kind words.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat additionally expressed the most sincere gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its invaluable support of Afghanistan’s peace and reconstruction, and imploring that as the beacon for the Islamic world, they continue to lead an encourage even greater influence and participation in the peace process of the region. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also updated H.E. Mr. Al Barrak on the many progressive achievements in Afghanistan over the past 15 years especially those undertaken since the formation of the National Unity Government.

H.E. Mr. Al Barrak thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his time and kind words, and furthermore, assured that Saudi Arabia will continue to support Afghanistan in developing into a further prosperous and peaceful nation. The gentlemen further discussed topics of mutual interest such as the recent speeches by leaders of allied nations planning for active steps to achieving further peace and security in Afghanistan.
