September 27, 2017: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of making a courtesy call on His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Hans Carl Freiherr von Werthern of Germany at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tokyo. Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary was also there.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Freiherr von Werthern extended a sincere and warm welcome to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat, and thanked him for meeting with him. Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Freiherr von Werthern congratulated H.E. Dr. Mohabbat on his appointment as Ambassador to Japan and sincerely wished him a successful tenure, noting he was certain to have one due to his extensive experience in Japan. In return, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked H.E. Dr. Freiherr von Werthern for making time in his schedule for the meeting as well as for his kind words. Also, on behalf of the people and Government of Afghanistan, extended his gratitude for the long support and assistance of the people and Government of the Germany over the years. Germany has stood steadfast with Afghanistan during the rebuilding process, helping to bring Afghanistan to its current progress & achievements.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat updated H.E. Dr. Freiherr von Werthern on the many progressive achievements in Afghanistan over the past 15 years especially those undertaken since the formation of the National Unity Government. He also spoke of the resolve that Afghanistan has had and that they will always continue to have the door open for discussion towards securing peace with those in opposition to it. The gentlemen further discussed topics of mutual interest such as the recent speeches by leaders of allied nations planning for active steps to achieving further peace and security in Afghanistan.
