May 31, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to receive a courtesy call by Professor Kosaku Maeda, Senior Special Advisor for Tokyo University of Arts, and Professor Takashi Inoue, Visiting Professor for Tokyo University of Arts, at the Embassy in Tokyo.

Prof. Maeda and Prof. Inoue are leading figures in the restoration of the cultural artifacts of Bamiyan, continuing forth the relations between Afghanistan and Japan which go back many centuries. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat warmly welcomed Prof. Maeda and Prof. Inoue once again to the embassy. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, he sincerely thanked them for their magnificent efforts and supervision over the many years in restoring the priceless cultural heritage artifacts of Bamiyan. In return, they thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and assured him that the cultural artifact restoration will always be a priority for them, and they hope one day they can be returned to their former glory. At this time, the gentlemen discussed plans and idea opportunities and for next year’s upcoming 90th Anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Japan. Also, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat took the opportunity to apprise Prof. Maeda and Prof. Inoue of the advance made by the National Unity Government in the Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.

May 30, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to receive Mr. Norimasa Sugiura, a representative from the Secretariat of the Headquarters for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, for a courtesy call at the embassy in Tokyo. Also in attendance were Ms. Miki Kimura, Assistant Director from the Secretariat of the Headquarters for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Mr. Abdul Hameed Hashimi, Third Secretary for the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat warmly welcomed Mr. Sugiura and Ms. Kimura to the embassy and expressed his gratitude to them for making time in their schedules to meet for a courtesy call. In return, Mr. Sugiura expressed his deepest gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat for finding time in his busy schedule to meet with him, and for the warm welcome.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss matters concerning the current options and available prefectural locations that could potentially host Afghanistan's athletes during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Also, substantial information was exchanged about the details of all the sports that Afghanistan currently and could compete in during Olympic and Paralympic time period. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat emphasized the importance and significance of this upcoming international event and the positive impact that it continues to reflect upon Afghanistan. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed great joy in knowing that Afghanistan has another opportunity to both represent their progression and profound perseverance. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked the Cabinet Secretariats for their continued effort in ensuring that Afghanistan is represented in Japan. Further, he expressed his wholehearted thanks and appreciation for the people and Government of Japan for their continuous and benevolent assistance to Afghanistan.

2019年5月30日: 2020年東京オリンピックおよびパラリンピックの本部事務所代表の杉浦正則氏の表敬訪問を東京の駐日アフガニスタン大使公邸にてお迎えしたことは、バシール・モハバット大使にとって喜ばしい事でした。また、2020年東京オリンピックおよびパラリンピック本部事務所のアシスタントディレクターの木村美紀氏、駐日アフガニスタン大使館の三等書記官であるアブドゥル・ハミード・ハシミ氏も出席しました。

モハバット大使は杉浦氏と木村氏を温かく大使公邸に迎え入れ、表敬訪問のために時間を作っていただいた事に感謝を伝えました。これを受けて、杉浦氏はモハバット大使に忙しい予定の中でお会いする時間を作って頂いたこと、また温かい歓迎に感謝を伝えました。

この会合の目的は、現在の選択に関係する問題や2020年の東京オリンピック・パラリンピックの時にアフガニスタンの選手たちが利用できる場所について話し合う事でした。また、アフガニスタンの一般のスポーツやオリンピック・パラリンピックでの競技についての沢山の情報が交換されました。モハバット大使はやがてやってくる国際的な催しの重要性とアフガニスタンに良い影響を与え続けることを強調しました。さらに、モハバット大使はアフガニスタンが選手たちの成長と深い忍耐の両方を表すもう一つの機会があることを知って大きな喜びを表しました。モハバット大使はアフガニスタンが代表されることを確信する努力を続けた内閣秘書の方々に感謝をしました。さらに、モハバット大使は日本の国民や政府のアフガニスタンの発展への断続的な支援に心から感謝しました。

Ambassador Mr. Starace of Italy to whom he expressed his heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in honor of the auspicious occasion as well as he expressed his appreciation for Italy's continuous, generous, impact-generating, and sustainable development assistance in Afghanistan across many sectors. In return, H.E. Mr. Starace thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and attendance.

While at the event, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the honor of meeting and speaking with his longtime friend, Chief Representative of the Komei Party and Member of the House of Councilors of Japan, H.E. May 29, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attended an Iftar Dinner reception hosted by the Governor of Tokyo, H.E. Ms. Yuriko Koike during Tokyo Networking Night with Islamic missions at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. All ambassadors and Chargé d'affaires from embassies of Islamic countries were invited to the Governor's office for the dinner reception breaking of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the honor of meeting and speaking once again with H.E. Governor Ms. Koike to whom he expressed sincerest thanks and appreciation on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for Japan’s steadfast and benevolent support over the years. In return, H.E. Governor Ms. Koike thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and assured him that Japan would continue to stand with Afghanistan well into the future as it strives for progress, prosperity, and peace in an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process. Moreover, H.E. Governor Koike stated that she was very much looking forward to the strong team of Afghan Athletes who would be representing Afghanistan in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic games in 2020. Dr. Mohabbat assured her that Afghanistan would be sending her brightest and most talented athletes on the National Olympic and Paralympic team who he had every assurance would represent the country well while competing here in Japan.

While at the event, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat had the opportunity to meet with other of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors from Islamic countries, Chargé d'affaires, and other distinguished guests invited by H.E. Governor Koike to partake in the breaking of the fast and sharing of an Iftar meal.

April 28, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the 2019 JCI World Festival at Komazawa Olympic Park in Setagaya Ward of Tokyo.

This year’s festival, one of the largest international festivals in the area, drew over 15,000 guests to event on the perfectly sunny day. In the opening ceremony, H.E. Ms. Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo Prefecture, gave remarks welcoming all the guests and participants to the event and strongly encouraged them to visit the international booths in order to broaden their horizons even further in preparation for next year’s 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The embassy’s Public Relations Office hosted a cultural booth in the International Friendship Area, in order to introduce Afghan culture and to the many guests who visited the booth. Well over 1000 guests visiting the Afghanistan booth had the opportunity to try Afghan saffron lemonade, learn about the many diverse culture aspects of Afghanistan, hear of the progress and development made over the recent years, and even purchase Afghan items from local Afghan vendors.

While at the festival, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with the host of the grand event, Hon. Mr. Masanori Shiozawa, Current President of the Junior Chamber International’s Tokyo Chapter, thanking him for extending the invitation to participate in the event to the Embassy. Further, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked the people and Government of the friendly and noble nation of Japan for their steadfast and benevolent support of Afghanistan over the years as it has strived for development, peace, and prosperity in an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process. In return, Hon. Mr. Shiozawa thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for attending the event, hosting an Afghanistan booth, and for his kind words. Moreover he promised that JCI would endeavor to stand with and support Afghanistan well into the future and the Embassy in many ways including hosting a Afghanistan Press and Information house for the upcoming 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo. All those who visited the Afghanistan booth remarked how enjoyable and enlightening their new impression of Afghanistan was and remarked how much the wished for even further peace and prosperity for Afghanistan in the future.

Also guests of H.E. the Ambassador of Qatar for the Iftar dinner in attendance for the evening were others of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Islamic nations with missions in Japan

H.E. Mr. Hassan Bin Mohammed Rafei Al-Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar, warmly welcomed H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and expressed his gratitude for attending the event. In return and on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked the people and Government of Qatar, through H.E. Ambassador Mr. Al-Emadi, for the kind and truly meaningful cooperation that Qatar has provided towards Afghanistan’s furthering of peace and the progressing extension of development. H.E. Mr. Al-Emadi reciprocated his assurance that Qatar will continue to support Afghanistan as a brother country as it endeavors to strive for peace. May 24, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the 23rd Nippon Taiko Foundation Charity Concert, Co-sponsored by Nippon Taiko Foundation and BirdLife International Tokyo, at the Sogetsu Hall in Tokyo.

The special guest in attendance at the exclusive annual event was Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado who has served as the Honorary President of BirdLife international for the past 15 years. Each year, the proceeds for the evening are donated to "BirdLife International Tokyo" secretariat in Asia for the BirdLife International (HQ in Cambridge, UK), which is an international environmental NGO to conserve the natural habitats of birds.

While at the event, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with the other special guests of the invitation-only event all present in honor of supporting the BirdLife cause.

May 24, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the reception on the occasion commemorating the Republic Day and the 100th Anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Diplomatic Service at the Okura Hotel, in Tokyo.

On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat expressed congratulations to the people and Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan through Mr. Farid Talibov, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, in honor of the auspicious occasion and anniversary. Moreover, he thanked them for their support over the years while Afghanistan has endeavored to strive for peace in an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process. In return, Mr. Farid Talibov expressed his appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat for his attendance and kind words as well as expressed the intentions that Azerbaijan would continue to stand by Afghanistan on its peace process for the region and the world.

May 23, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the 100th Anniversary of the Bilateral Diplomatic Relations between Poland and Japan and National Constitution Day Reception at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting and talking with H.E. Ambassador Mr. Jacek Izydorczyk to whom he expressed his heartfelt thanks for Poland’s continual and benevolent support of Afghanistan on behalf of the people and Government of Afghanistan. In return, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Izydorczyk thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and expressed his sincerest hope that their two countries, Poland and Japan, develop deeper and more profound ties.

While at the reception, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with others of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, diplomats with missions in Japan, and high ranking members of Government present with whom he discussed many topics of mutual interest.

2019年5日17日 特命全大使バシール・モハバット閣下は、アフガニスタンの子供達への寄付品における協定書に調印する所為で、コクヨ株式会社と特定非営利活動法人飛鳥の代表者を駐日アフガニスタン大使館内のルミバルヒホールに歓迎しました。寄付品は、アフガニスタンの文部省の管理下で調達されます。

モハバット大使は前述の代表団からの著名な来賓者を迎えました。それに従い、コクヨ株式会社の代表取締役社の黒田英邦さん、NPO法人飛鳥創始者の柳原靖子さん、モハバット大使の順に、協定に調印しました。

開会の挨拶では、モハバット大使は、アフガニスタンの子供達の教育支援のための素晴らしい寄付品と、その支援品のためにご尽力いただいたコクヨ株式会社とNPO法人飛鳥へ感謝の意を述べました。コクヨ株式会社の代表取締役である黒田英邦さんはアフガニスタンへの教育支援の奨励の重要性を述べ、続いてNOP法人飛鳥の創始者、柳原靖子さんはアフガニスタンの平和と発展への道を築く上での子供達の重要性を言及しました。NPO法人飛鳥は、積極的にアフガニスタンの教育分野の支援に貢献しています。２０１１年から、飛鳥の不断の努力は、アフガニスタンの子供達とその地域の生活の質と教育機会の向上を促進しています。

協定書の調印式の後、モハバット大使は支援品の寄進者と継続的なアフガニスタンへの支援に謝意を表すため、大使公邸で歓迎会を催しました。

Kokuyo Co. Ltd and NPO ASCA Donation Procurement Contract Signing Ceremony.

May 17, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to welcome representative members from Kokuyo Co. Ltd. and NPO Association of Sahadat for Children in Afghanistan (ASCA)to the Rumi Balkhi Hall in order to ceremonially sign a contract donating goods collected by the aforementioned organizations into the care of the Ministry of Education of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, through their representatives of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, at the Embassy building in Tokyo.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat welcomed the distinguished guests from both delegations. Following this, representatives from the three parties involved were invited one at a time to the signing area to sign the contract; beginning with Mr. Hidekuni Kuroda, Chief Representative of Kokuyo Corporation; followed by Madam Yasuko Yanagihara-Mohabbat, Founder of NPO ASCA; and finalized by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat.

  

In his opening remarks, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat deeply thanked both organizations Kokuyo Co. Ltd. and NPO ASCA for their generous donation and time in acquiring materials with which to help support and continue the education of children in Afghanistan. Remarks were given by Mr. Hidekuni Kuroda, Chief Representative of Kokuyo Corporation, who expressed his great interest and appreciation for the importance in the promotion of educational projects in Afghanistan. This was followed by remarks by Madam Yasuko Yanagihara-Mohabbat, Founder of NPO ASCA, on the importance of children in founding the path to progress and peace in Afghanistan. The NPO ASCA is actively contributing to the support of the education sector in Afghanistan. Since 2011, ASCA’s tireless efforts have helped to improve the quality of life and educational opportunities of Afghan children and their communities.

Following the ceremony for the signing of the contract, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat hosted a small reception in the Ambassador’s residence to celebrate and thank the benefactors for their donation as well as for their continuous assistance toward Afghanistan.
