May 31, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to receive a courtesy call by Professor Kosaku Maeda, Senior Special Advisor for Tokyo University of Arts, and Professor Takashi Inoue, Visiting Professor for Tokyo University of Arts, at the Embassy in Tokyo.
Prof. Maeda and Prof. Inoue are leading figures in the restoration of the cultural artifacts of Bamiyan, continuing forth the relations between Afghanistan and Japan which go back many centuries. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat warmly welcomed Prof. Maeda and Prof. Inoue once again to the embassy. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, he sincerely thanked them for their magnificent efforts and supervision over the many years in restoring the priceless cultural heritage artifacts of Bamiyan. In return, they thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and assured him that the cultural artifact restoration will always be a priority for them, and they hope one day they can be returned to their former glory. At this time, the gentlemen discussed plans and idea opportunities and for next year’s upcoming 90th Anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Japan. Also, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat took the opportunity to apprise Prof. Maeda and Prof. Inoue of the advance made by the National Unity Government in the Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.
