May 30, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to receive Mr. Norimasa Sugiura, a representative from the Secretariat of the Headquarters for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, for a courtesy call at the embassy in Tokyo. Also in attendance were Ms. Miki Kimura, Assistant Director from the Secretariat of the Headquarters for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Mr. Abdul Hameed Hashimi, Third Secretary for the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat warmly welcomed Mr. Sugiura and Ms. Kimura to the embassy and expressed his gratitude to them for making time in their schedules to meet for a courtesy call. In return, Mr. Sugiura expressed his deepest gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat for finding time in his busy schedule to meet with him, and for the warm welcome.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss matters concerning the current options and available prefectural locations that could potentially host Afghanistan's athletes during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Also, substantial information was exchanged about the details of all the sports that Afghanistan currently and could compete in during Olympic and Paralympic time period. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat emphasized the importance and significance of this upcoming international event and the positive impact that it continues to reflect upon Afghanistan. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed great joy in knowing that Afghanistan has another opportunity to both represent their progression and profound perseverance. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked the Cabinet Secretariats for their continued effort in ensuring that Afghanistan is represented in Japan. Further, he expressed his wholehearted thanks and appreciation for the people and Government of Japan for their continuous and benevolent assistance to Afghanistan.

2020年東京オリンピックおよびパラリンピックの本部事務所からの代表者による表敬訪問

2019年5月30日: 2020年東京オリンピックおよびパラリンピックの本部事務所代表の杉浦正則氏の表敬訪問を東京の駐日アフガニスタン大使公邸にてお迎えしたことは、バシール・モハバット大使にとって喜ばしい事でした。また、2020年東京オリンピックおよびパラリンピック本部事務所のアシスタントディレクターの木村美紀氏、駐日アフガニスタン大使館の三等書記官であるアブドゥル・ハミード・ハシミ氏も出席しました。

モハバット大使は杉浦氏と木村氏を温かく大使公邸に迎え入れ、表敬訪問のために時間を作っていただいた事に感謝を伝えました。これを受けて、杉浦氏はモハバット大使に忙しい予定の中でお会いする時間を作って頂いたこと、また温かい歓迎に感謝を伝えました。

この会合の目的は、現在の選択に関係する問題や2020年の東京オリンピック・パラリンピックの時にアフガニスタンの選手たちが利用できる場所について話し合う事でした。また、アフガニスタンの一般のスポーツやオリンピック・パラリンピックでの競技についての沢山の情報が交換されました。モハバット大使はやがてやってくる国際的な催しの重要性とアフガニスタンに良い影響を与え続けることを強調しました。さらに、モハバット大使はアフガニスタンが選手たちの成長と深い忍耐の両方を表すもう一つの機会があることを知って大きな喜びを表しました。モハバット大使はアフガニスタンが代表されることを確信する努力を続けた内閣秘書の方々に感謝をしました。さらに、モハバット大使は日本の国民や政府のアフガニスタンの発展への断続的な支援に心から感謝しました。
