Attendance at the Farewell Dinner for H.E. Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China.

May 7, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the farewell dinner in honor of H.E. Mr. Cheng Yonghua, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Japan at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo.

At the welcoming ceremony of the largely attended event, remarks were given by H.E. Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, who spoke on the importance of Japan's warm relations with China, as well as the great role that H.E. Ambassador Mr. Cheng played in strengthening those relations during his tenure. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat thanked the host of the event, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Cheng Yonghua of China for the invitation to this occasion to bid farewell to him, as well as wished his the very best of luck in all his future endeavors. Further, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, he thanked him for the long friendship and support the people and Government of China have shown to Afghanistan as it has striven for prosperity and peace in an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process. In return, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Cheng thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his attendance, his kind words, and assured him that China would continue to help Afghanistan secure peace in an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process.

While at the event, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting with others of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, diplomats with missions in Japan, and other distinguished guests who were in attendance at the event.
