September 10, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to meet with the Hon. Mr. Ichiro Kanke, Parliamentary Vice Minister of the Environment at the Ministry of the Environment offices in Tokyo.

Hon. Mr. Kanke expressed his warm welcome to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and thanked him for arranging to meet. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked Hon. Mr. Kanke for taking time out of his schedule to meet and expressed sincerest gratitude on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for Japan’s great contribution in assisting with reconstruction and progressive development of Afghanistan. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat believes strongly that being mindful of the environmental concerns of Afghanistan based on its location and its vitality to the Agriculture industry are crucial to the livelihoods of the Afghan people and the future of Afghanistan. With the generous aid from Noble countries such as Japan, the Afghanistan hope to be able to not only address environmental concerns present, but also to fortify knowledge of those within the country dealing with these issues for self-sustainability as the business, trade, and infrastructure of the country improves to grow the nation. This sort of assistance Self-Sustainability Development and Infrastructure building with a mindfulness to the unique environment of Afghanistan, such as the generous nation of Japan has been doing, if allowed to continue, will symbiotically enhance both nations and build stronger times among them.

Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked Hon. Mr. Kanke for Ministry of the Environment’s continuous support in the relations between Afghanistan and Japan, and asked for further assistance and guidance in helping Afghanistan to address environmental concerns. In return, Hon. Mr. Kanke thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his encouraging words, and assured him of his intentions to do his very best to assure that both nations prosperity and the continuation of strong relations will continue well into the future.

February 4, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to meet with the Hon. Mr. Hiroyuki Ohno, President of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Hon. Mr. Takayuki Okayama, Vice President, at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in Fuchu City. Also in attendance was Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked Hon. Messrs. Ohno and Okayama for receiving them and making time in their schedules to meet. Further, he congratulated them on being one of the top leading universities in the field of Agriculture which is not only important to the world, but so vitally important to Afghanistan’s agriculturally based economy. Since 2003 they have accepted 50 Afghan scholars into their university to study, and currently there are 11 students engaging in their programs. In return, Hon. Messrs. Ohno and Okayama sincerely thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for arranging to meet with them as well as for his kind words. 

Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended his gratitude, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for the long support and assistance of the people and Government of the noble nation of Japan. Japan has stood with Afghanistan during the rebuilding process, helping to bring Afghanistan to its current progress & achievements, and their help to develop the human capacity holds a place of appreciation and honor in the heart of Afghans. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked them for having accepted many Afghan scholars over the years. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also expressed optimism for the relationship between Japan and Afghanistan to become stronger through many avenues and asked for their support to increase the scholarship opportunities for Afghan students at their institution in order that they may receive the cutting edge top ranking education and thus to help continue the human capacity development of Afghanistan for maximizing progress. Hon. Messrs. Ohno and Okayama both believed that assisting in doing so would serve as a great assistance to increasing ties between Afghanistan and Japan as well as to continue the forward progress for Afghanistan. December 17, 2018: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of attending the JENESYS 2018 SAARC 1st Batch Reporting Session’s Closing Ceremony in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan.

The twelve-member JENESYS SAARC delegation, all from different backgrounds in Afghanistan, were in Japan to learn, participate in home-stays, experience cultural exchange, and participate in discussions while located in Japan’s fertile and rich Fukushima Prefecture. Following the end of their program, a closing ceremony was held in Tokyo and the delegation were able to meet with H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and Mr. Agah. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat congratulated them on the completion of their program here in Japan and encouraged them to take all of the knowledge and experiences they gained while engaging in this unique opportunity back with them to Afghanistan and find was to apply them to help make Afghanistan’s vitally essential agricultural sector and their other specialties even better for self-sustenance.

Attendance at the "Towards One Trillion Yen in Agricultural Exports" Briefing

March 19, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of attending the "Towards One Trillion Yen in Agricultural Exports" Briefing, briefed by Mr. Ken Saito, Minister of Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Japan, at the Foreign Press Center Japan. Also in attendance was Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Japan.

This briefing was about Japan increasing it's agricultural and food products export to one trillion in 2019. There has been an increasing demand for Japanese agricultural and food products in the overseas market due to it's health benefits and it's higher quality. The increasing market has been seen in the three-day expo held last year with 2,800 representative buyers from 70 different countries and regions. With expected buyers to grow to 4,000 this year. Japanese green tea has been on large demand overseas due to it's health benefits.

As Afghanistan is mostly an import based country, Afghanistan can benefit from Japanese imports. Especially with green tea, both cultures share green tea culture. With increasing popularity with fresh and dried fruits Afghanistan can increase it's diversity in it's fruits market with the help of Japanese market export. This can increase not only cultural ties but economic ties between Afghanistan and Japan.

1/03/2016 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Hosts a Lunch Reception for PEACE Graduation

March 1st, 2016: It was the pleasure for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie of hosting a lunch reception for scholarship graduates at the embassy in Tokyo. 33 graduates who had studied in Japan under Japan International Cooperation Agency project called PEACE program.

In his opening remark, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie extended his gratitude to the Government of Japan and related offices, on behalf of people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for providing comprehensive, sustainable and impact generating assistance to the country with such a precious opportunity for Afghan youth. H.E. Dr. Fatimie also expressed to graduates his congratulations, and encouraged them that their home country is awaiting their earned knowledge and skills to be utilized.

Mr. Katsumi Moriyasu, Director of Afghanistan Assistance Planning Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, made a remark. He expressed his congratulations by representing Japanese Foreign Ministry to all the graduates, and wished their experience be fully helpful for their country's reconstruction.

Among the participating graduates, Mr. Gulbuddin Gulab and Mr. Mohammad Reza Ghulami made their speech respectively, to express their appreciation for the education and spoke of their aspiration to apply their earned knowledge when returning to Afghanistan.

It was followed by 4 other graduates' presentation of their thesis summaries: Mr. Osama Hidayat "Sustainable Neighborhood Design Criteria for Afghan Cities: Revising the Basis of Planning a New Type of Progress"; Mr. Shams Hayat Khan "Studies on Efficient Use of Irrigation Water in Afghanistan"; Mr. Jamal Abdul Naser Shokory "Climate Change Impact on Water Resources in Kabul River Basin" and Mr. Mohammad Reza Qasemi "The Contribution of Track Two Diplomacy to Promoting Peace Talks with the Taliban: The Case of the Pugwash Initiatives on Afghanistan." 

Afghan dishes were served, and for their achievements, the certificate of completion were given to all graduates from the embassy and JICA respectively.

4/08/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Visits the “Fukushima Fair in Kasumigaseki”

August 4, 2015:
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie made a point of honor to be present at the “Fukushima Fair in Kasumigaseki”, an event hosted by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to which the Diplomatic Missions in Japan were invited.
Too often, ordinary and brave citizens face dramatic issues they did not provoke but which they have to continue to live with. Afghans know it, and so do Japanese. The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan will never forget the help Japan brought and will do everything it can to prove it.
This is why H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie went to the fair to demonstrate his conviction that the Fukushima Prefecture will recover 2011’s disaster as it has many resources, and bought a few peaches and small cakes to offer the Embassy staff as well as his family.

March 30, 2015: Agriculture is of fundamental importance in the lives of a majority of Afghan's and Japan has played a key role in both the facilitating of the industry's development in Afghanistan as well as in bettering the lives of millions of Afghans living in rural areas. It was with this reality of Japan's importance in the sector and in peoples' lives that His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie participated in a reception hosted by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries His Excellency Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi.

In order to further enhance Japan's contributions to Afghanistan's agriculture sector and rural development, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie conversed with high ranking Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries members including with His Excellency Minister Mr. Hayashi Yoshimasa, State Minster Mr. Akio Koizumi, Parliamentary Vice Minister Ms. Yuko Nakagawa, and Parliamentary Vice Minister Mr. Hidemichi Sato.
