July 18, 2019: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of attending the Reception Honoring the 243rd Independence Day of America at the Ambassador’s Residence of the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.
On behalf of the people and Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat expressed sincerest congratulations on this most auspicious occasion to the people and Government of the United States of America through H.E. Mr. William Hagerty IV, Ambassador of the United States of America to Japan. In return, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Hagerty thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his attendance and kind words, and wished for the continuation of profound relations between Afghanistan and the United States. Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended his gratitude for the long support and assistance of the people and Government of the United States of America which has steadfastly stood alongside Afghanistan over the years throughout the rebuilding process on the mission to attain security and peace in its Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process. Moreover, as H.E. Ambassador Mr. Hagerty will be resigning his post later this month, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat wished him the best of luck in his future endeavors, as well as expressed to Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Joseph M. Young his assurance that the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo would continue the friendly and warm relations with the U.S. Embassy under his tenure. H.E. Mr. Hagerty and Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Young both thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his well wishes and assurances of continued friendly bilateral relations.
Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat had the honor of meeting and speaking with several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors such as H.E. Ambassador Dr. Ahmed M. R. Naili of Libya & H.E. Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Araita Ali of Djibouti, diplomats with missions in Japan, high ranking members of several Governments, and other notably distinguished guests all present in honor of the auspicious occasion.
