December 23, 2014: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the esteemed privilege of attending a reception at the Imperial Palace in honor of His Imperial Majesty The Emperor's 81st birthday. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie personally spoke with H.I.M. The Emperor and, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, extended His forthright congratulations on this special day and sincerest best wishes for H.I.M. The Emperor's continued health and happiness.
The people of Afghanistan have cherished memories of Their Imperial Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan's six day state visit to Afghanistan in 1971 which acted to further the ties of friendship enjoyed between the two countries.

October 29, 2014: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the honor of attending Café Democrats, a discussion and exchange forum that is organized for the diplomatic community in Tokyo by the Democratic Party of Japan. Held at the DPJ party headquarters, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was warmly greeted by DPJ President and Member of the House of Representatives, the Honorable Mr. Banri Kaieda and H.E. expressed his deep gratitude to the DPJ for their robust support of Afghanistan during their time in government between 2009 – 2012 and for the party’s continued commitment and active efforts towards assisting Afghanistan up to the present day. Furthermore, President Kaieda was earnestly thanked for His sincere letter written to congratulate His Excellency President Ahmadzai on his inauguration.
 
The evening’s welcome address was given by the President Kaieda which was followed by a speech by the party’s Secretary General and Member of the House of Representatives, the Honorable Mr. Yukio Edano. The Honorable Mr. Edano concentrated on the domestic politics and foreign policy of the DPJ. The assembled ambassadors and diplomats participated in a question and answers session where the policies of the DPJ were clarified and confabulated.
 
Cordial and informative conversations were held with the party’s Director General, International Department, the Honorable Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, Vice Director General, International Department, the Honorable Ms. Misako Yasui, General Manager, International Department, the Honorable Mr. Hiroyasu Higuchi, and Vice Representative, Union of DPJ Kanagawa Prefecture, the Honorable Ms. Hiroe Makiyama. H.E. Ambassador Fatimie took the opportunity to again thank them for Japan’s vital assistance and unwavering commitment to furthering peace and development for the people of Afghanistan.

October 23, 2014: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the honor of receiving the Director of Asia/Oceania Regional Office of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Mr. Hayashi, and Director Ms. Hirayama from the Office of International Sports, Sports and Youth Bureau, MEXT. Both guests were warmly welcomed and sincerely thanked for their work with Afghanistan and for their cooperation and support of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and team athletes. H.E. Ambassador Fatimie expressed his strong support for the fight against doping in sport and warm wishes for the preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics were exchanged.

October 18, 2014: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the great pleasure of welcoming Dr. Hayatullah Atid who is the Director of various civil society groups in Afghanistan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatime was previously the Afghan Government’s Minister for Public Health and H.E. and Dr. Hayatullah Atid have had a long history working as medical doctors.
Dr. Hayatullah Atid has come from Afghanistan to attend a one week capacity training program in Tokyo which is sponsored by the government of Japan, which will further enhance His dedicated efforts helping the people of Afghanistan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatime warmly thanked Dr. Hayatullah Atid for his vital service to the Afghan people. The people and Government of Afghanistan feel deep gratitude to the people and Government of Japan for providing this invaluable opportunity which will further strengthen the role of civil society in the country.

October 4, 2014: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the honor of attending a reception for the 6th JAPAN-ASEAN Defense Vice-Ministerial Forum. It was with great pleasure and honor that H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie met with the State Minister of Defense H.E. Akira Sato, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Defense H.E. Kenji Harada, Director General Dr. Hideaki Watanabe and the Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture the Honorable Yuji Kuroiwa.

Warm discussions were held regarding the warm and harmonious relations shared between Afghanistan and Japan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie took the opportunity to offer his heartfelt gratitude for Japan’s resolute friendship and support in building a democratic, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan. H.E. September 26, 2014: Ambassador Fatimie attended National Day Reception of Saudi Arabia at the Palace Hotel in Tokyo. Ambassador Fatimie greeted and congratulated Saudi Arabian Chargé d'Affaires ad Interim Mr. Khalid Albrahim for the happy occasion. He also discussed with Mr. Khalid Albrahim about the state of friendly relations and nurturing of peace between the two countries, with the hope that Saudi Arabia would continue to support Afghanistan.

24/09/2014 Ambassador Dr. Fatimie participated in Conference “Afghanistan: Lessons Learnt and the Road Ahead”

September 24, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Fatimie, along with Minister Counselor Mr.Faryabi, First Secretary Mrs.Afzali, and Second Secretary Mr.Karimi, participated in a conference “Afghanistan: Lessons Learnt and the Road Ahead”. The conference was hosted by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Japan Office in cooperation with Institute for International Policy Studies and Japanese-German Center Berlin. At the meeting, H.E. Dr. Fatimie gave a few remarks on the past achievements of Afghanistan the last decades in various sectors, as well as on the prospect for the country under the new unity government. Additionally he also highlighted the high turnout rate of the Afghan people in recent election. Lastly Dr. Fatimie asked for continued, vigilant support of the United Nations and international community in helping build peace in Afghanistan as it is deeply connected to world peace. Afterwards the conference was heated with thorough discussions regarding the future and challenges Afghanistan faces. The conference was attended by distinguished guests such as Professor Ahmad Fahim Hakim, former Deputy Chair to the Afghanistan Independence Human Rights Commission, and Mr. Masataka Nakahara, former Director General of South Asia Department Department.

17/09/2014 Ambassador Dr. Fatimie hosts ceremony of Martyr Week and reception for the JICA PEACE invitation program

September 17, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie hosted a ceremony in recognition of Martyr Week and a reception for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) PEACE invitation program. In a ceremony of Martyr Week, participants mourned and honored people who fought for Afghanistan. Ambassador then gave remarks representing great gratitude for JICA and Japanese government’s support to Afghanistan. This was followed by an inspirational speech by Mr. Ahmad Kamal Qasemyar, the human resources director from Kabul Municipality, who spoke about Afghanistan’s future. Participants enjoyed traditional Afghanistan dishes after the events.

September 16, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie had a dinner in honor of Dr. Sima Samar, the chairperson of the Afghanistan Independent Human Right Commission hosted by Mr. Tsukasa Uemura, the director-general of Middle Eastern and African Affairs bureau of Japan. They discussed deeply about building peace in Afghanistan.

September 12, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie attended The World Assembly for Women (WAW!) 2014 in Tokyo. The event was held by the Government of Japan, KEIDANREN (Japan Business Federation), Nikkei Inc., and the Japan Institute of International Affairs. At the event, issues regarding women’s role in today’s society such as diversity in work environments, women’s role in promoting as well as other issues that commonly affect women around the world were discussed.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie attended the event with Her Excellency Dr. Sima Samar, the chairperson of the Afghanistan Independent Human Right Commission who was visiting Japan for this occasion. Ambassador talked with several prominent figures from Japan including Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Minister For Foreign Affairs Mr. Fumio Kishida, and Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, the new leader of New Komeito.

August 11, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie extended a warm welcome to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Mr. Yasushi Misawa, who has recently been appointed Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan’s Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau. Mr. A.G. Poya Faryabi, Minister Counsellor; Mr. Mohammad Yasir Karimi; Mr. Sayed Ali Asghar Amiri; and Mrs. Parwana Paikan were also present.
 
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed pleasure with the very appropriate appointment of Mr. Misawa to his current position and stated that he is looking forward to together enhancing even further the already warm ties between Afghanistan and Japan. August 8, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie received warmly the Mr. Fumio Iwai, who has recently been appointed Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan’s Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau. August 7, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie welcomed warmly to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo a high-level delegation from the Central Statistics Organization (CSO) Afghanistan office comprised of President General Shir Mohammad Jamisada, President General, Director Mohammad Sami Nabi of the Field Operations Department, and Director Ms. Rahila Arif of the Social and Demographic Statistics Department. The delegation is visiting for a program involving the Statistics Bureau of Japan, sponsored by the UNFPA.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie took the opportunity to express sincerest gratitude for the efforts of the CSO Afghanistan and its esteemed staff for the efforts that have been extended to bring positive developments for the nation. July 16, 2014:Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie attended an Iftar reception hosted by H.E. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The event was organized in order for H.E. the Prime Minister to recognize the customs of the representatives of the Islamic Missions to Japan during the holy month of Ramadan.
Following H.E.’s welcoming remarks, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the great honor of greeting H.E. the Prime Minister, expressing praise for hosting such a thoughtful event and, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the visibly impactful results of Japanese cooperation in Afghanistan’s peace and development.
The evening was attended by key guests both including key members of the Japanese government as well as Their Excellencies Ambassadors from nations of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Within these dignified guests, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was able to meet with Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobuo Kishi; H.E. Senior Vice-Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura of the Cabinet Office; H.E. Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Tadahiko Ito; and H.E. Mr. Tsukasa Uemura, who serves as Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau. To each of these great gentlemen, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also expressed Afghanistan’s sincere gratitude for Japan’s support. H.E. Mr. Ito kindly stated that this support would continue hereon and H.E. Director General Uemura kindly expressed solidarity with Afghanistan.

17/07/2014 Ambassador Dr. Fatimie meets with DG Uemura of MoFA Japan

July 17, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie was warmly received at the office of H.E. Mr. Tsukasa Uemura, who serves as Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau. The two had met the previous evening at the Iftar reception hosted by H.E. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity for Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and H.E. Director General Uemura to discuss in greater depth issues of mutual interest. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was also able to renew, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, expressions of sincerest gratitude for Japan’s generous and life improving cooperation extended to Afghanistan’s peace and development.

June 19, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and Mrs. Fatimie had the great honor to attend a luncheon hosted by Their Majesties the Emperor and the Empress of Japan on at the Imperial Palace. The luncheon was organized to welcome the Ambassadors and Ambassadresses of four nations represented in Japan.
In the course of the luncheon, the Ambassador was kindly extended the opportunity to express, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, heartfelt gratitude for the life-bettering cooperation provided by Japan, under the leadership of Their Excellencies, to Afghanistan’s peace and development. Their Majesties graciously in turn expressed appreciation for Afghanistan’s contributions following the disasters of March 2011. The parties were then able to speak on reflections of Afghanistan and other issues of mutual interest.

June 10, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin attended at Iikura House a reception held in honor of the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Ambassadors to the Middle East and Africa. The event was hosted by H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who opened the event with inspirational remarks. The evening provided an opportunity to connect the Japanese Ambassadors and other Japanese government dignitaries with Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of foreign missions to Japan and certain prestigious representatives from the Japanese private sector.

June 4, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie attended a reception for Japanese mayors at the invitation of H.E. Minister for Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida. The event was organized in order to allow interconnections to be formed between the municipalities and with the Embassies in Japan.

Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the great opportunity to speak with a number of dignitaries attending the event, including good friends H.E. Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobuo Kishi and H.E. Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Hirotaka Ishihara; H.E. Senior Vice Minister of Finance Jiro Aichi; Deputy Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kazuhiko Koshikawa; and Hon. Mayor Tamio Mori of Nagasaki (pictured below, second from the bottom), who serves as the head of the association of mayors. To each of these esteemed gentlemen, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, sincerest appreciation for the generous and effect-generating support that Japan has extended towards Afghanistan’s peace and development. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie would express the same to their honors the mayors, as well as convey the desire to further strengthen bonds between Afghanistan and their respective municipalities.

4/06/2014 Ambassador Dr. Fatimie attends Café Democrats event

June 4, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie attended a Café Democrats event organized at the Democratic Party of Japan’s headquarters. The regular gathering is held so that the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) can tell of its latest policies and points of interest to the international community in Japan.
Hon. President Banri Kaieda (pictured above) spoke on “The DPJ’s Strategy for the Closing Part of the Diet Session. Following this, Hon Councillor Motohiro Oono (pictured below), Secretary General of the party’s General Research Commission and Vice Director-General of the International Department, discussed “The Debate Regarding the Right to Collective Self-Defense.”
Other participants from the Democratic Party of Japan included; Hon. Secretary General Akihiro Ohata; Hon. Representative Kaname Tajima, Director-General of the party’s International Department; and other key members. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was further honored to be able to greet a number of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Missions to Japan.

28/05/2014 Ambassador Dr. Fatimie visits Kagoshima, meets with Hon. Gov. Ito, Hon. Mayor Mori

May 27-28, 2014: As part of his initiative to further strengthen relations between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the local governments and populations of Japan, Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie visited the beautiful and important prefecture of Kagoshima and its capital city. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was impressed by the sights, as well as by the kindness and hospitality of the officials and the local citizens.
On the 28th, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the great pleasure of being received most hospitably by Hon. Governor Yuichiro Ito (pictured above) at his esteemed office. April 17 , 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and the Ambassadress attended at the Akasaka Imperial Garden the Spring Imperial Garden Party hosted by Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress. The event was attended by more than 2,000 guests.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and the Ambassadress had the great honor of expressing to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, Their Majesties the Crown Prince and Crown Princess, and Their Imperial Highnesses the members of the Imperial Family sincerest pleasure for having been invited to this most splendid of gatherings. Their Majesties were most gracious in replying.


Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and the Ambassadress had the further honor of meeting with a number of key attendees. Speaking with each of Their Excellencies former Prime Ministers Naoto Kan and Yoshihiko Noda (pictured above), the Ambassador respectively conveyed, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, deepest gratitude for Japan’s partnership in Afghanistan’s peace and development, which has facilitated inspiring results. A recent positive example of this, the Ambassador cited, was the peaceful and highly-participatory elections that took place earlier this month. The elections were shown as proof that democracy has been embraced and extremism marginalized. To H.E. former Prime Minister Noda, Ambassador Fatimie also spoke of the success of the Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan that took place under His esteemed leadership. Meeting with H.E. Minister of the Environment Nobuteru Ishihara (pictured below), Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was able to reconnect and speak on a number of topics; H.E. had been a guest of honor previously at a dinner hosted at Ambassador Dr. Fatimie’s residence. February 19, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and Mr. Mohammad Yasir Karimi, Second Secretary, attended the Democratic Party of Japan’s “Café Democrats” meeting, hosted by Hon. Director-General Kaname Tajima of the party’s International Department. Participants included Hon. President Banri Kaieda, Hon. Secretary General Akihiro Ohata, Hon. Director-General Satoshi Arai, Hon. Vice Director-General Eiichiro Washio, Hon. Vice Director-General Soichiro Okuno, Hon. Vice Director-General Yuichi Goto; Hon. Vice Director-General Michihiro Ishibashi, Hon. Vice Director-General Motohiro Oono, and Hon. Vice Director-General Misako Yasui. The event served as an opportunity to learn of the proceedings of the DPJ Annual Convention and issues relating to the current Diet session.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the opportunity to speak with Hon. Representative Taizo Tanose; and Mr. Dan Harada, head of Nagatacho Forum. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie has a warm and long-standing friendship with Mr. Harada who kindly helped to create the new bonds of friendship with the other esteemed members of this visit.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie firstly expressed deepest appreciation for the noble guests’ visit despite very busy schedules. Amin Fatimie welcomed to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, a prominent individual who formerly served at the Embassy and remains involved in Afghan-Japanese relations. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed deepest gratitude for the continuing efforts of Dr. Mohabbat and his esteemed family to build bonds in terms of public and private sector partnership between the nations and to build greater awareness of Afghanistan particularly in the Gifu prefecture of Japan. February 10, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie attended a reception hosted by Deputy Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kazuhiko Koshikawa at Mita Kaigisho. The reception was organized in conjunction with a seminar held for officials of local governments.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the opportunity to greet Deputy Vice-Minister Koshikawa (pictured above), expressing deepest gratitude for the generous and life-bettering support that has been provided to Afghanistan by Japan and specifically through the kind partnership of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ambassador further hailed the event’s purpose of helping to forge even-closer bonds between the diplomatic community and the local governments, as this is one of Ambassador Dr. Fatimie’s personal prioritized initiatives.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was able to meet with many notable guests at the reception, including Director Shuichi Akamatsu of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Economic Policy Division; Director Tetsuya Toyota of the Japan External Trade Organization’s Regional Industry Tie-up Program; H.E. February 5, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo hosted a reception in honor of the visit of H.E. Dr. Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, Minister of Finance of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. H.E. Minister Zakhilwal, accompanied by Mr. Musa Kamawi, Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Finance, had been in Japan on an important visit at the invitation of UNITAR, where he also met with key Japanese figures such as H.E. Mr. Taro Aso, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; H.E. Mr. Nobuo Kishi, Senior Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs; and President Akihiko Tanaka of JICA.
The reception was attended by a number of dignitaries, including Mr. Tsukasa Uemura, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau; Mr. and Mrs. Kenshiro Matsunami of Nippon Sport Science University; Hon. President Masayuki Inoue of Japan Educational Exchanges and Services; Executive Vice President Eiji Taguchi of the Japan Foundation; President Otohiko Endo of the Institute of Global Business Strategies; and Director Han-Deog Cho of the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Remarks were also shared by H.E. Minister Zakhilwal (pictured below), Mr. and Mrs. Matsunami, Director General Uemura, and Director Cho. The following are highlights from their respective remarks in order of delivery. First, Mr. Matsunami spoke on the efforts of he and his associates to support Afghanistan thus far and the motivation to continue. He mentioned his University had been able to bestow an honorary doctorate on H.E. President Hamid Karzai in 2012. Director Uemura welcomed H.E. the Minister and vowed to continue in his role in partnering with Afghanistan. Director Cho also extended a welcome, and shared of JICA’s PEACE scholarship program, which has been successfully bringing Afghan officials to Japan to receive higher education. Mrs. Matsunami introduced individuals who have been working to support Afghanistan, sharing of each person’s individual roles.

In His remarks, H.E. Minister Zakhilwal firstly expressed gratitude to Ambassador Fatimie and those who have supported this successful 4th visit to Japan; He would later award some certificates of appreciation in regards. H.E. the Minister also expressed sincerest gratitude for Japan’s key role as a leading supporter in Afghanistan’s development. Expressing the natural brotherly bond between the nations, he mentioned cultural similarities as well as the 1971 visit of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan, then the Crown Prince and Crown Princess, to Afghanistan. Sharing of the progress that has been realized since 2001, H.E. spoke of optimism of continued future gains.

February 4, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie attended a reception at Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa upon the invitation of H.E. Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Seiji Kihara. The reception was dedicated to supporting the reconstruction of the Prefectural Governments of the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Amin Fatimie and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo hosted a reception to commemorate a Japan International Cooperation Agency’s (JICA) program on natural disasters and disaster management. The program brought together key figures from Afghanistan, Japan, and regional nations including the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Turkey. From Afghanistan, esteemed participants included Dr. Mohammad Daim Kakar, Director General of ADMA; General Jalander Shah Behnam, Director of Emergency and Disaster at the Ministry of Defense; General Mahboob Amiri, Director of Disaster Management at the Ministry of Interior Affairs; Dr. Amir Badshah Mangal, Director of AJCDH; and Mr. Abdi Abed of Jam Co., Ltd. Other attendees of the reception included Director Hiroe Ono and Mr. Haruyuki Shimada of JICA; Director Tsutomu Kurihara of Earth Systems Science; Mr. Ali Jared, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; and Mr. Ibrahim Çetinkayaya, First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie welcomed all participants, lauding the focus put on protecting lives.
