January 29, 2018: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to greet and meet at the embassy Minister Keiichi Hara, Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy of Japan in Kabul, at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, Japan. Also in attendance at the meeting was Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary and Mr. Abdulzaman Akbari, Third Secretary.
Minister Hara thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for making time in his schedule to meet and share with him the moments of fellowship. He began by expressing his most heartfelt condolences for the tragic terror attacks which occurred recently in Afghanistan, assuring that not only does Japan condemn these attacks but also that it would continue to stand with Afghanistan. Further he extended his wishes that, given the long relations between their two countries and the close relationships among the counterparts at both embassies, and that their two countries would continue to deepen and make more profound their relations.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his thanks for Minister Hara's kind words, on behalf of people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Further he conveyed deep appreciation to the Japanese government for its continuing support of Afghanistan’s reconstruction process which is paving the way for increased greater livelihood, peace and prosperity for the Afghan people. The Japanese have stood with Afghanistan during the rebuilding process, helping to bring Afghanistan to its current progress & achievements, and their help and investment of Afghanistan’s future by developing its human capacity holds a place of appreciation and honor in the heart of Afghans. Additionally H.E. Dr. Mohabbat updated Minister Hara on the many progressive achievements in Afghanistan over the past 15 years especially those undertaken since the formation of the National Unity Government.H.E. Dr. Mohabbat shared the optimism for the relationship between Japan and Afghanistan becoming stronger to help improve the progress of Afghan society and the livelihoods of the Afghan people. All present further discussed topics of mutual interest.

January26, 2018: His Excellency Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan, had the upmost honor of hosting a reception for the delegates visiting Japan from the Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan under the invitation of United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

His Excellency Dr. Mohabbat gave the opening address, thanking UNITAR for their great assistance towards training 500 Afghans over the past 14 years to become leaders in their community. In addition, the speech highlighted valuable points of the country’s economic growth and human capacity potential to create a stable and secured Afghan for her citizens.

Following after the opening address, remarks were given by the Deputy Director General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi; and the Head of UNITAR’s Hiroshima Office, Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto, and the Acting General-Director of the Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. Alem Shah Ibrahimi.

In the end, everyone was invited to enjoy the fine Afghan cuisine provided by the Embassy and to enjoy themselves. It was a wonderful night, celebrating the visit of delegates from Afghanistan to Japan and UNITAR’s wonderful achievements to Afghanistan.

January 26, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honour and pleasure of attending the reception on the occasion of the 69th Republic Day of India at Hotel Okura Tokyo.
Opening remarks were given by the guest speaker, H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Minister of Foreign Affairs for Japan, who spoke on the long and profound relations between Japan and India. Following the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat congratulated His Excellency Mr. Sujan R. Chinoy, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of India, on such an auspicious day and event. India has been a good friend and stood with Afghanistan during the rebuilding process, helping to bring the current progress & achievements, and their help and sacrifices, like others from the international community hold a place of appreciation and honor in the heart of Afghans. In return, H.E. Mr. Chinoy thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and assured that India will continue to aid Afghanistan in their time of need. Additionally, H.E> Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors with missions in Japan, diplomats, parliamentarians, high ranking members from Japan’s business sectors, and other dignified guests with whom he discussed many topics of mutual interest.

January 24, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the great pleasure of hosting a warm dinner reception for H.E. Ms. Seiko Noda, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, Minister in charge of Women's Empowerment, and Minister of State for the Social Security and Tax Number System at the Ambassador’s Residence within the Embassy in Tokyo.

In the main foyer, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and Madam warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, H.E. Ms. Seiko Noda, who is not only a long time personal friends of theirs but also a long time friends of the Embassy and Afghanistan. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed, on behalf of people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, deep appreciation to the Japanese government for its continuing support of Afghanistan’s reconstruction process which is paving the way for increased greater livelihood, peace and prosperity for the Afghan people. Additionally, he expressed his humble happiness at hosting a true friend of Afghanistan, and such an honorable guest, here at the Embassy.

In return, H.E. Ms. Seiko Noda expressed her sincere gratitude for the kind words as well as for the invitation to H.E. Ambassador Mohabbat and madam, stating that she had been very much looking forward to the occasion. She assured him both personally and professionally that she would do all in her capacity to make sure Japan continued to stand by Afghanistan, as it is a place very near to her heart, well into the future. All present discussed many topics of mutual interest such as the long history of Afghan-Japanese Relations in a very friendly atmosphere.

January23, 2018: His Excellency Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan, had the pleasure of hosting a reception on the occasion of the visit of delegation members from the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Ministry of Women’s Affairs, and the Private Sector, to Japan—and most especially, to JENESYS, the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths for bringing this delegation together. More than 50 guests from the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Japan, Chamber of Commerce of Japan, JETRO, JICA, organizations operating in Afghanistan, and those from Japan with working relationship with Afghanistan among the private sectors were invited to the Embassy in honor of the visiting Afghan delegation.

The Second Secretary, Mr. Asif Agah gave the opening remarks on behalf of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, welcoming the delegation visit to Japan. In his opening remarks, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat first began by thanking the people and Government of the noble nation of Japan for their most benevolent and gracious support over the years in the redevelopment of Afghanistan -- Japan has shown to Afghanistan over the years in its reconstruction process that it has been a true friend and its generous efforts will forever live in the hearts of Afghans . Further in his speech he highlighted the urgent necessity of bolstering investment & trade for stimulating the Afghan economy, the major improvements in women’s development, and the improvements in human capacity development that Afghanistan has achieved. He pointed out the abundant natural resources of Afghanistan both agricultural and non-agricultural—from mineral ores and precious stones, to Saffron and abundant fruits & nuts, to handmade goods such as carpets and cashmere accessories, and so on calling on the government and private sectors of Japan's Mining industry and other to take advantage of this great hub for trade in the region. He called on the Afghan delegation to use their resources and this rare opportunity to make the best of this friendship with their Japanese counterparts and establish great networks to sustain this growth.

Following H.E. Dr. Mohabbat, remarks were given by Deputy Director General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, who welcomed the Afghan delegation to this unique experience which he hoped would prove most beneficial and promised on behalf of the people and Government of Japan that they would work harder to bolster trade relations between Japan and Afghanistan for the mutual benefit of both countries; Hon. Mr. Kenshiro Matsunami, President of Nippon Sports Science University Group, a long time friend of Afghanistan who gave encouraging words about the many wonders of Afghanistan, the great resources of Afghanistan, and the greatest resource of all—the Afghan people; and honorary member Mr. Haji Sadullah Haqyar, Head of Secretariat of Board of Directors for the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, who updated the guests on Afghanistan's international trade progress over the past 16 years, expressed his utmost thanks and praise to Japan for their support over the years which has helped to bring this sort of progress and positive change to Afghanistan, and gave further wonderful remarks about trade and investment in Afghanistan and the readiness for them to welcome Japanese investors.

Following the remarks, guests were invited to browse the many Afghan crafts and products on display showcasing the beautiful and vibrant culture of Afghanistan and they were invited to dine on traditional Afghan cuisine which was prepared by the Embassy in honor of the guests’ visit.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan was honored and delighted to host the reception as it showed a growing success with cultural exchange between Japan and Afghanistan, and potential business opportunities. In the end, a group photo was taken to cherish the memory.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and the Chief Executive Director and COO of OCAJI, Mr. Yoshihiro Yamaguchi, discussed the present and future plans of construction in Afghanistan. They mutually agreed that Afghanistan has greatly benefited over the past years from infrastructure construction and development and thus would benefit greatly from continued Japanese construction and development. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat sincerely thanked Mr. Yamaguchi for the continuous support in the development of Afghanistan. In return, Mr. Yamaguchi reassured Dr. Mohabbat that they would continue giving support to Afghanistan.

January 22, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of attending the Opening Ceremony of the 196th Ordinary Session of the National Diet of Japan in the Chamber of the House of Councillors, opened by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. Mr. Ashor Azimi, Minister-Counsellor for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan also attended the event.
It was an honor and pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and Mr. Azimi to be invited on the occasion to observe the Opening Ceremony of the 196th Ordinary Session of the National Diet of Japan. In what was an auspicious event held in the Chamber of the House of Councillors. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also took the opportunity to discuss various topics of mutual interest with several Ambassadors and diplomats who were also in attendance.

Ambassador Mr. Dražen Hrastić and Madam Hrastić, in honor of the new appointment of the Ambassador of Republic of Turkey, H.E. Dr. Hasan Murat Mercan, at the Ambassador’s Residence of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Tokyo.
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat extended his thanks to H.E. Ambassador Mr. Hrastić for the invitation to the elegant and well appointed dinner, as well as thanked him on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for the support of the people and Government of Croatia over the past years of reconstruction. He further expressed his hopes to strengthen and deepen the relations between their respective countries. In return, H.E. Mr. Hrastić expressed his appreciation to H.E. January 17, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Tokyo for the condolence book signing in honor of the victims of SANCHI oil tanker which sunk in the East China Sea.
H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his deepest condolences, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to the Ambassador Designate and Mr. Hossein Zanjani, Chargé d’affaires ad interim, for the passing of the victims of the SANCHI oil tanker, as well as expressed his sympathy to the entire nation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In return they expressed their sincerest thanks to H.E. Dr.Mohabbat for his attendance as well as his kind words.

January 16, 2018: It was an honor for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the evening reception entitled “Tokyo Ambassadors Night” hosted by Hon. Ms. Yuriko Koike, Governor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel.

This evening was an event to honor all of the Ambassadors and Heads of Mission in Tokyo. They were also able to meet, network further, and learn about the many wonders of Tokyo. Also they were treated to displays showing aspects of Japanese cultures well as many of the flavors and foods of Tokyo.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat was fortunate to meet and speak with Hon. Governor Ms. Koike, to whom he expressed his profound thanks for hosting this event as well as for the tireless dedication and benevolence Japan has shown to Afghanistan over the years in its reconstruction process. In return, Hon. Ms. Koike thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for attending the event and reaffirmed her commitment to maintaining and furthering the bilateral relationship.

January 12, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, had the great honor and pleasure of attending the Imperial Family’s New Year’s Poetry Reading, the Ceremony of the Utakai-Hajime, at the Imperial Palace.
Dr. Bashir Mohabbat was greatly honored to be one of the few Ambassadors this year to receive an invitation and grated attendance to enjoy the annual poetry recital of the great traditional cultural event wherein eloquent poetry is recited at the request of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, as well as the Crown Prince and Princess of Japan.

Mr. Takeshi Watanabe, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency’s Afghanistan Office. Also in attendance was Mr. Ahmad Bashir Ghafoori, First Secretary and Consul for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.

Hon. Mr. Watanabe congratulated H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat on his appointment as the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Japan and wished him a successful tenure, noting he was certain to do so due to his longtime experience in Japan. Additionally he expressed his sincerest wishes for continued warm and amicable relations between Afghanistan and Japan and his hopes to further expand the assistance from the people and Government of Japan towards helping develop continued progress in Afghanistan and expanding the human capacity development for the Afghan people.

It was an honor and pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the New Year Reception gala jointly hosted by Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives), The Japan and Tokyo Chambers for Commerce and Industry, and Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo.
Present at the annual reception were more than three thousand guests including the top, uppermost ranked government officials, politicians, parliamentarians, Their Excellencies the Ambassadors and diplomats with missions in Japan, officials from the global economic sector, and the foremost leaders of Japan’s largest international corporations. 
Opening remarks for the ceremony were given by the Chairman of Keidanren, Dr. Sadayuki Sakakibara. Also present to give remarks at the event was H.E. Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan. All speakers spoke of the success of ‘Abenomics’ in helping to raise the economy of Japan, and increase profits, stating that for 2018 they would stay this course.

January 1, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the distinct honor of attending, at the invitation of H.M. the Emperor of Japan, a New Year’s greeting ceremony at the Imperial Palace. This is yet another of the wonderful opportunities that H.E. Dr. Mohabbat had to be in the presence of H.M. the Emperor, following H.M.'s birthday in December.
On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat was able to meet with a number of Their Excellencies the ambassadors of other missions in Japan.
