Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie was warmly received by H.E. Ambassador Tadamichi Yamamoto, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, at his office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in Tokyo.
Ambassador Fatimie first took this opportunity to once again express deepest appreciation, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for Japan’s selfless and life-improving efforts towards Afghan peace and development. Recognizing H.E. Ambassador Yamamoto as a relentless champion within Japan’s multi-sector cooperation, Ambassador Fatimie spoke of the great confidence in the success of Japanese initiatives that Afghanistan has knowing that this key individual is involved.
While a number of key issues were discussed, the Ambassadors paid considerable attention to discussing preparations for the upcoming Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan. Japan once again through this conference is proving its unquestionable friendship to Afghans as it will rally some 80 nations and international organizations in support of the Afghan people in the years to come.

Symbolic of the results of continued tireless efforts and significant achievements that have been made in furthering Afghanistan's profile in Japan during the previous four and a half years, which was highlighted when, upon arriving at the hall for the Cafe Democrats meeting, in a rare moment, the Director General of the DPJ's International Department and Member of the House of Councillors The Honorable Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, came forward and personally greeted His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie. The Hon. Mr. Fujita communicated his condemnation to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie of the recent terrorist attack on Afghanistan's National Assembly and expressed his sincerest condolences to the people of Afghanistan for the deaths and injuries caused and stated that Japan and the DPJ will continue to support Afghanistan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, his utmost gratitude to The Hon. Mr. Fujita for his comments and support and articulated that terrorism does not respect political or religious boundaries and has no respect for human life.
At the Cafe Democrats event which informs the diplomatic community of the DPJ's domestic and foreign policy agendas, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also met with the DPJ's Vice Director of the International Department and member of the House of Councillors The Honorable Mr. Hiroe Makiyama, and with Chair of the party's Policy Research Committee and Member of the House of Representatives The Honorable Mr. Goshi Hosono and extended his appreciation, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for Japan and the DPJ's ongoing assistance to Afghanistan's sustainable development.

22/06/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends A Gathering of Afghan Students At Waseda University
June 22, 2015:
According to the National Unity Government's Triangle of Stability, the base of stability is human capacity and the importance of Afghanistan's youth receiving a solid education cannot be underestimated for the country to achieve self-reliant development and, it was with this in mind that, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie traveled to Waseda University to meet with diligent Afghan students.
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also met with Waseda's Vice President for International Affairs Professor Morita who thanked him for coming and communicated that Waseda would accept more Afghan students in the future. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, his gratitude to Professor Morita and to Waseda for equipping young Afghans with knowledge in order for them to return and contribute to their communities.
Spending two hours with his Afghan brothers and sister, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie warmly encouraged and listened to the hard working students discuss their lives, studies and challenges living in Japan and promised that the Embassy would continue to do everything it can to assist them with their problems. All students appreciated H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie's time and support in what was a special time for everyone involved.

It was with a heavy heart that His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie participated in a condolence book signing ceremony to, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, pay his respects to the late President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, His Excellency Mr. Samdech Akka Moha Thamma Pothisal. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his deepest commiserations to His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Monirath Hor, who appreciated his attendance, and to the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Ms. Chiaki Yamagami from JICA’s South Asia Division 2 South Asia Department, Mr. Takafumi Fukai and Ms. Eriko Sanada as Peace Experts from JICE, and Mr. Kazutoshi Yoshino, officer of Peace Project International Student Affair Department were present at the reception to witness the Afghan students’ significant harvest from Japan.
The three graduates’ research all focused on Afghanistan’s current situations and future progress. Their academic achievements in Japan and future leading roles in promoting Afghanistan’s development will be the best compliment that Afghanistan can provide in return for their Japanese friends’ generosity.
Education is critical to Afghanistan’s transition to a more politically and economically developed nation. Japan has consistently spared no efforts in providing more learning opportunities for Afghan students and assisting the country to achieve self-reliant advancement through these intellectual Afghan graduates.
This Wednesday, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie delightfully welcomed JICA and JICE officials and three Afghan students graduating from Masters Degrees through the Peace Scholarship program of the Japanese Government to the Embassy.
A wonderful lunch was served, followed by encouraging speeches from H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie, First Secretary Mr. Ahmad Bashir Ghafoori, Ms. Akiko Komori, Officer of the PEACE Project of JICA, and from Pierre. In the presence Mr. Asadullah Azam from the Afghan Student Association, the Afghan graduates presented their academic theses successfully, which not only demonstrates their great accomplishments in relevant fields of studies, and more importantly, symbolizes a brighter tomorrow for Afghanistan’s future path.

Jordan has played an important role in the furthering of Afghanistan's peace and development and it was with this in mind that His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie attended a reception to celebrate the 16th Anniversary of His Majesty King Hussein's Accession to the Throne and the Independence Day of Jordan. Hosted at Hotel Okura, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie conversed with His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Demiye Zuher Haddad and Jordanian diplomats and, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, extended his most forthright best wishes for Jordan's peace and prosperity. In return, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Haddad expressed his sincere hope for Afghanistan's success in its continuing path toward peace and sustainable development.
In order to enhance the potential for Afghanistan's economic development, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also spent considerable time with senior members of Japan's private sector such as with JGC Corporation Chairman Mr. Y. Shigehisa, JGC Associate Executive Office Mr. Masahiro Aika, Min-on Concert Association President and Manager Mr. Hiroyasu Kobayashi and Mr. Toshiaki Matsuo respectively, as well as with the International Friendship Center's Ms. Sumiko Yasuto.

Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also held discussions with the CEO of APA Group Mr. Toshio Motoya; the COO of APA Hotels and Resorts Ms. Fumiko Motoya; President of Min-on Concert Association Mr. Hiroyasu Kobayashi; the Manager of the Public Relations Department in the Business Affairs Division of Min-on Mr. Toshiaki Matsuo; the Representative Director and Vice Chairman of Nissan Motor Corporation Mr. Toshiyuki Shiga; President Ceremony Corporation's Mr. Tsukasa Shiga; and Editor in Chief of Asia Press Mr. Chang Nam Kim.
As the Non-Resident Ambassador to the Philippines, it was a great honor for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie to participate in the National Day Reception of the Philippines and passed on his congratulations to His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Manuel M. At Russia Day celebrations at the Embassy of Russia, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and Ambassadress Fatimie met with the Ambassador of Russia, His Excellency Mr. Evgeny Vladimirovich Afanasiev, and congratulated him and the diplomats in attendance for the successful hosting of the event. Importantly for Afghan-Japan relations, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie conversed with the former Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to him for his tremendous support for Afghanistan during his time as Prime Minister. Former Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Fukuda communicated that Afghanistan's continued development was important and that Japan would continue to support such efforts.
The Director General of the International Department of the Democratic Party of Japan The Honorable Mr. Yukihisa Fujita was also in attendance and H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie used the opportunity to express his unreserved appreciation for Japan's five-billion USD pledge to Afghanistan when the DPJ was in Government. H.E. His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had a great honor visiting Iikura House to attend the reception for Mayors of Municipalities in Japan hosted by H.E. Minister Fumio Kishida, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. After the speech by H.E. Minister Kishida, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie spoke with him on behalf of the Afghanistan people and Government, about importance of bilateral ties between Japan and Afghanistan. H.E. 5/06/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends the USFJ/5th AF Change of Command Ceremony
June 05, 2015:
With few countries having provided greater assistance toward Afghanistan's reconstruction and development than Japan and the United States of America, it was with a sense of utmost importance that His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie attended the USFJ/5th AF Change of Command Ceremony at Yokota Air Base. In what was a fruitful morning for progressing relations with a number of countries, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie met with the new Commander of the United State's forces in Japan, Lieutenant General Dolan, who has previously served in Afghanistan, particularly in Kandahar, and communicated that he was impressed with the progress Afghanistan is making. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his deep gratitude to Lieutenant General Dolan for his honorable service in Afghanistan.
The opportunity was also taken to extend Afghanistan's warm relations with Japan by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie who held discussions with influential people such as Vice-Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Defense His Excellency Mr. Hideshi Tokuchi, Chief of Staff of Japan's Self Defence Forces Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano, Major General Kazuo Tokito, and with Lieutenant General Kousuke Yoshida. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his appreciation, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to Vice-Minister Tokuchi for Japan's generous and comprehensive support for peace and socio-economic development.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the great honor to attend the Shisui-Kai, a gathering of the Liberal-Democrat Party (LDP) hosted by The Honorable Toshihiro Nikai, Chairman of the General Council of the party. His Excellency Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was present. For this occasion, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, expressed his warm gratitude towards H.E Prime Minister Abe for contributing to strengthening of ties between Japan and Afghanistan and for increasing Japan’s role as a world leader in spreading peace, democracy and development in Afghanistan.
H.E Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also spoke about mutual issues with several esteemed elected officials among which included The Honorable Ms. Satsuki Katayama, Chairwoman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense at the House of Councillors, and also The Honorable Arata Takebe, and The Honorable Takayuki Kobayashi, both members of the House of Representatives.
Among the guests were also the long time friend of Afghanistan and President of the Educational Foundation of Nippon Sport Science University Group the esteemed Mr. Kenshiro Matsunami, and the highly talented Mr. Dan Harada.

The reception of the Turkish Frigate TCG Gediz’s visit to Tokyo offers a vital opportunity for Afghanistan to associate itself with other countries on the international stage in regards for common concerns and development. As a wonderful chance to promote harmonious relationship between Turkey and Afghanistan, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the great pleasure of meeting with the esteemed Ambassador of Turkey, H.E. Mr. Ahmet Bulent Meric and the Flag Officer of TCG Gediz Admiral Radm Namik Alper, who is also the representative of the Turkish Naval Force. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his utmost appreciation to Admiral Alper for the Turkish service personnel who have sacrificed their lives protecting freedom and democracy, a sacrifice that will never be forgotten by the people of Afghanistan.
In maintaining Afghanistan’s continuously warm relations with The Imperial Family of Japan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his sincere respect of Afghanistan to Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado and the Imperial Family, in high praise for Japan’s positive role in contributing to Afghanistan’s development. 2/06/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends National Day of Italy Celebrations

While attending the National Day Celebrations of Italy, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie congratulated Ambassador of Italy His Excellency Mr. Domenico Giorgi, Ambassadress Giorgi, Diplomats and the Military Attache for the success of the event and used the opportunity to, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, express his appreciation for Italy's comprehensive support to the people of Afghanistan. In addition, the sincere expression of gratitude and sadness of the sacrifice of fifty-three Italian service persons defending freedom and democracy in Afghanistan was communicated and that these precious lives will never be forgotten.
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and H.E. Ambassador Mr. Giorgi discussed the meeting this week between His Excellency President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Italian Prime Minister His Excellency Matteo Renzi's in Herat Province where the Prime Minister vowed to continue supporting Afghanistan.
In order to further Afghanistan's warm relations with the senior leadership of Japan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie held discussions with State Minister of Defence and State Minister of the Cabinet Office His Excellency Mr. Akira Sato, President of the Komeito Party and long time friend of Afghanistan His Excellency Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, Komeito Director of the Budget Committee and Chair of the Party International Committee Mr. Isamu Ueda, Chief Executive Assistant to the Prime Minister Mr. Isao Iijima, and Special Adviser to the Cabinet of the Prime Minister Mr. Yoshio Nakamura and, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, expressed his appreciation for Japan's ongoing invaluable assistance to the country.
