7/03/2015 H.E. Takes Center Stage at the Minato-ku World Carnival

March 7, 2015: In what was the climax of the six-week long Minato-ku World Carnival, SL Square at Shimbashi Station hosted the final Carnival in which fifteen Embassy's participated. On this special occasion of cross-cultural interaction with the people of Japan, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and Ambassadress Fatimie took center stage as He delivered an impassioned speech emphasizing the importance of the Afghan-Japan friendship and the reality that more similarities than differences are shared by the people of the world.

The Afghan Embassy booth received some four-hundred visitors, including the Chairman of the Minato-ku Council Assembly The Honorable Mr. Jun Shichinohe, who enjoyed gift bags of nuts and sultanas, which are one of Afghanistan's largest exports, while enjoying the Afghan jewelry, clothes, posters and language material that was on display. The event received wide coverage and the Embassy's Public Affairs Officer was interviewed by Tokyo News reporter Ms. Yuko Matsumura.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and Ambassadress Fatimie interacted with members of the Japanese community for about one hour and the Embassy greatly appreciates the many Japanese who, became friends of the Embassy during the Stamp Rally and the Embassy's Minato-ku World Carnival events, and came to Shimbashi station and warmly participated in the March 7th event. Third Secretary Mr. Sayed Ali Asghar Amiri was also present at the event.

Afghan musical group "Chalpasa" played a vital role in the event and in the Embassy's public relations campaign. Chalpasa's beautifully mesmerizing music added to the vibrant and dynamic atmosphere and they were crowd favorites.

Over the six-week duration of the Minato-ku World Carnival, many participants were deeply moved by the Afghan Embassy's warm hospitality, friendship and serious intent to treat each and every participant like a VIP. Members of Minato-ku Council provided feedback to the Embassy that out of the fifteen participating embassys, it was the Afghan Embassy which had the highest reputation and received the most positive feedback from particpants.

 07/03/2015 Embassy Receives Guests Participating in the Minato-ku World Carnival Stamp Rally

January 29 - March 07, 2015: It was a great pleasure for the Embassy to treat some seventy guests from the honorable Japanese community to fifteen-plus minute tours of the Embassy as part of the Minato-ku World Carnival's Stamp Rally. Guests enjoyed learning about Afghanistan and Afghan-Japan relations while touring the Embassy and viewing such places as the Embassy library, corridor, reception hall and Embassy rooftop next to the Tokyo Tower. The Embassy extends its most forthright appreciation to all valued participants and looks forward with great anticipation to seeing all our friends again in the near future.

6/03/2015 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Hosts Reception for Afghan Peace Scholarship Graduates

March 6, 2015: Japan has played a leading role in ensuring that Afghanistan not only achieves peace and development but also, and more importantly, achieves self-reliant peace and self-reliant development. Hosted by His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie, the Embassy's reception for twenty-nine Afghan students graduating from Masters Degrees through the Peace Scholarship program of the Japanese Government, clearly illustrates such invaluable contributions by the noble nation of Japan.

In what was a commemoration of achievements made before the graduates return to Afghanistan to participate in the development of their country, lunch was served before impassioned speeches were given by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie, JICA's Director South Asia Division 2 South Asia Department Mr. Takuya Otsuka and by Dr. Azam of the Afghan Students Association. Deep appreciation for Japan's efforts toward ensuring a bright future for the people of Afghanistan were communicated.

First Secretary and Consul Mrs. Farima Orya Afzali gave an important speech while Third Secretary Mr. Sayed Ali Asghar Amiri was Master of Ceremonies. Esteemed guests in attendence included JICA representatives Ms. Rumiko Nomura, Mr. Masaaki Nakatsu, Mr. Shota Suzuki, Ms. Harue Tomino and JICE representatives Mr. Takafumi Kukai, Ms. Eriko Sanada, Ms. Airi Nakazawa and Mr. Kazutoshi Yoshino.

Presentations of theses by graduate students Ms. Fatema Samim, Mr. Abdul Wahab Mohammadi, Mr. Homayoon Ganji, Mr. Ahmad Farid Rawan, Mr. Mohd Asif Agah, and by Mr. Mir Sayed Shah Danish highlighted the practical nature of the degrees studied which included a diverse range of specialties including in Engineering, Bio-resources, Agriculture and international development.

Certificates of congratulations were then awarded to each of the graduating participants.

The reception was highly successful and would not have run as smoothly without the excellent contributions by members of the day's Embassy intern team - Moco-san, Miyu-san, Mana-san and Gawon-san - who H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed His sincere gratitude to.

04/03/2015 H.E. Minister Counsellor Mr. Faryabi Welcomes Deputy Finance Minister H.E. Mr. Mastoor

March 4, 2015: His Excellency Minister Counsellor Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Poya Faryabi and other diplomatic staff of the Embassy had the honor of greeting the Finance Deputy Minister His Excellency Mr. Mustafa Mastoor. H.E. Mr. Mastoor participated in the Asia Leadership Program on Sustainable Development and Climate Change from the 2nd to 4th of March in Tokyo. The program was held by the Asia Development Bank Institute and Institute for Global Environment Strategies, and co-hosted by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan.

04/03/2015 The Embassy of Afghanistan Holds Third and Final Unforgettable Minato-ku World Carnival Event

March 4, 2015: In what was the final of the Embassy's three event series for the Minato-ku Council World Carnival, sixty-four honorable guests of the Japanese public were warmly welcomed to the Embassy in what was a special and memorable event which assisted to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between Afghanistan and Japan.
Due to His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie being out of the country, the Embassy's Deputy Head and Minister Counsellor, His Excellency Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Poya Faryabi delivered an important speech which illustrated the people of Afghanistan's strong affiliation with and deep respect for the noble people of Japan and that the Afghan people will be forever grateful for the honorable nation of Japan’s generous support and friendship.

Earlier in the event, a forty-five minute presentation was delivered by the Embassy's Public Affairs Officer titled "Afghanistan In My Heart" which illuminated the juxtapositions of the unique and shared humanity which manifest itself as the daily realities of how Afghanistan is experienced.
Following this, a highly stimulating question and answer session was held which facilitated direct interaction between diplomatic staff, His Excellency Minister Counsellor Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Poya Faryabi, First Secretary and Consul Mrs. Farima OryaKhil Afzali, Second Secretary Mr. Mohammad Yasir Karimi, and Third Secretaries Mrs. Parwana Paikan and Mr. Sayed Ali Asghar Amiri, and honored guests, during which many excellent questions were asked.

Finally, a group photo was taken on the Embassy's rooftop next to the Tokyo Tower.
The Embassy would like to again express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of our sixty-four honorable participants for creating such a precious event. It was felt that many guests came as strangers but all left with positive lifelong memories and friendship with the people of Afghanistan.

03/03/2015 H.E. Minister Counsellor Mr. Faryabi Attends UNESCO Japan Foreign Policy Lecture

March 3, 2015: His Excellency Minister Counsellor Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Poya Faryabi and Second Secretary Mr. Mohammad Yasir Karimi participated in an UNESCO lecture given by Professor Kazuhiko Togo on Japan’s foreign policy. Professor Togo is the Director of the Institute for World Affairs, Kyoto Sangyo University. He served in the Japanese Foreign Ministry as Ambassador in numerous nations such as Russia and the United States.

01/03/2015 The 2015 Afghan Kite Festival Flies High in the Sky

March 01, 2015: The Embassy took great joy in co-hosting the 2015 Afghan Kite Festival with Nittai Ebara High School. In what was a unique cross-cultural event attended by MoFA Japan’s Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau The Honorable Mr. Isami Takada, the local community shared many happy experiences flying kites with Embassy staff and meeting with Afghan students. The event opened with speeches by The Hon. Mr. Takada, Third Secretary Mr. Sayed Ali Asghar Amiri, Mr. Yabuta and the Embassy's Public Affairs Officer.

The participation of The Hon. Mr. Takada and Mrs. Takada, Fujisankei Communications Group's Editorial Office Political Section Vice-Director Mr. Morimichi Imahori and all members of the community who braved the cold weather to engage in this important grass-roots event, was very much appreciated.

The Embassy also extends its sincere appreciation to the extraordinary and assiduous Mrs. Kuniko Matsunami (without her magnificent efforts the event would not have occurred), Principal Mr. Takuzo Ooishi, Vice Principal Mr. Kiyoi Ito, Mr. Yabuta, long time friend of the Embassy Ms. Sedeka Etoh, all the esteemed staff and students at Nittai Ebara High School, the Japan Kite Association, Afghan students, Mrs. Snelling and Motoko-san for their invaluable efforts in preparing and facilitating this extraordinary event.
