Attendance at the 2018 Minato Citizens’ Festival
October 6th, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of attending the 37th Minato Citizens’ Festival in the very international area of Minato-ku, Tokyo. Also in attendance were Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary; Dr. Rahim Azimi, First Secretary; Mr. Asif Agah; Second Secretary, all of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan.
While at the event, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting Hon. Mr. Ichiro Aisawa, the member of House of Representatives and former Senior Vice-Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Ambassador Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Japan, as well as several other of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, Diplomats with Missions in Japan, members of government, and other distinguished guests.
At the Minato Citizens’ Festival, embassies and other institutions have booths showcasing the culture, history, tourism, and various highlights of each country. This year, the residents of Tokyo and adjacent areas joined hands to celebrate the growing cultural diversity and international community in Japan, creating a momentum toward the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Embassy of Afghanistan’s Public Relations Office, under the supervision of Mr. Ashraf Baburi and Ms. Allyson Diaz, was honored to present our Afghan saffron and saffron lemon tea, Afghan traditional dish Mantu, henna culture, and precious Lapis Lazuli stones, for the approximately a thousand visitors to the booth to purchase, all of which were cordially welcomed and well-received.
