January 30, 2016: Mr. Mohammad Yasir Karimi, Second Secretary and Ms. Namie Imanishi, Commercial/Economic Assistant attended 2016 Annual Party Convention of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) at Tokyo Prince Hotel. It was attended by the party’s senior officials, parliamentary/regional representatives, and distinguished guests from the diplomatic missions, NPOs, other parties and many others. Mr. Karimi had a pleasure of greeting with Hon. Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, Director-General, International Department of the DPJ and Member of the House of Councilors.

28/01/2016 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Visits Ochanomizu University

January 28, 2016: It was a pleasure for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie to attend Nonoyama Fund Evaluation Meeting for the Training Program and its Closing Ceremony held at Ochanomizu University. Through the program, two Afghan trainees, Ms. Tahera Nabi and Ms. Tahmina Amani, have studied at Ochanomizu University, and gave their presentation. For the successful presentations and earning of the graduation certificate, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie warmly congratulated them and encouraged them for further development as well as their successful career in the future.

 

H.E. Dr. Fatimie also had a pleasure of meeting Ms. Kimiko Murofushi, the president of the university, along with Ms. Nabi and Ms. Amani. As this women's university has received some Afghan female students over the years, H.E. Ambassador expressed his gratitude, on behalf of current students, graduates, people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for the school's continuous and precious support to the young generation of Afghansitan and women's empowerment dually. Ms. Murofushi in response expressed her appreciation to the Ambassador and the embassy for the assistance, and that she and the school are grateful to have welcomed Afghan students, who also inspire existing Japanese students of the international cooperation.

26/1/2016 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends the 67th Republic Day of India

January 26, 2016: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had a pleasure of attending the 67th Republic Day of India, and meeting H.E. Mr. Sujan R. Chinoy, Ambassador-designate of the Republic of India. H.E. Ambassor Dr. Fatimie and H.E. Mr. Chinoy exchanged words on the issues of the mutual interests of the regional neighbors -Afghanistan and India, and expressed that they very much look forward the mutual cooperation. 

H.E. Dr. Fatimie also had an honor and pleasure of meeting the Honorable Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, Chief Representative of Komeito Party. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and the Hon. Mr. Yamaguchi enjoyed meeting again to each other.

25/01/2016 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and Mr. Karimi Attend a Workshop Presentation of JENESYS program

 

January 25, 2016: It was a pleasure for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie, and Mr. M. Yasir Karimi (Second secretary) to attend a workshop presentation by the participants from Sourh Asian Association for Regional Cooperation member countries of JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) Programme. 15 Afghan students visited Japan this time, and they did a presentation, along with other participants from SAARC countries, to show what they have learned from the exchange program. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was invited for the occasion as a distinguished guest, and shared his words to welcome and encourage the participants, as well as to express the appreciation for continuous support from Japan International Cooperation Center. The Afghan participants demonstrated that they had been impressed by the development of Japan, its culture, tradition, and cutting-edge technology, while they all coexist.

Later on the same day, H.E. Dr. Fatimie had a great pleasure of warmly welcoming Mr. Babakhan Aslami, Deputy Director of First Political Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to the embassy, who was on his trip to Japan as the supervisor of Afghan participants of the JENESYS programme.

January 25, 2016: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had warmly welcomed the visit of Mr. Mohammad Islam Darrehee, Deputy Director of Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for his a week long mission to Tokyo. 21/01/2016 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends the Reception for the Establishment of World Tsunami Awareness Day

 

January 21, 2016: It was an honor for His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie to attend the reception for the Establishment of World Tsunami Awareness Day hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Japan has had many experiences of tsunami, as the Japanese word has become and known to the world today, it has earned counter-tsunami and prevention measures. In his remarks, H.E. Foreign Minister of Japan Mr. Fumio Kishida expressed that Japan is ready to cooperate and offer assistance to the countries of the world in this issue. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had a pleasure of conversing with H.E. Minister Kishida, and expressed his congratulation on the adoption of the World Tsunami Awareness Day at the United Nations, which Afghanistan also supported. 

The reception was attended by many distinguished guests by Japanese law makers, officials and widely invited diplomatic missions, as the World Tsunami Awareness Day was supported by many countries. 2016.22.01 Visit by Kudan Middle School's Students

The Embassy Welcomes the Visit of Kudan Middle School's Students

January 22, 2016: The embassy of Afghanistan in Japan welcomed a visit by 5 students of Kudan Middle School, Chiyoda-ku Tokyo. As a part of the school's curriculum, the students came to show what they have learned and found about Afghanistan, and to further seek the advice on topics to improve to prepare for the all-school presentation competition in March. Mr. M. Yasir Karimi, Second secretary, received their presentation by representing the embassy, of which he commented that their presentation had been fantastic. Each students expressed that what they had found about similarities and differences between Japan and Afghanistan interested them very much, and that they were inspired to search more of interesting topics among the two countries. Subsequently, the embassy welcomed the students for the embassy tour, and H.E. Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie presented gifts as well as expressed his encouragement to Japan's young generation to be a friendly link between Afghanistan and Japan.

Ambassador of Croatia, Mr. Drazen Hrastic, to the embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, his gratitude for the role Croatia has been playing for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, and wished the friendly relationship of the two countries be continued. In return, H.E. Ambassador Hrastic first appreciated the warm hospitality of the embassy, and agreed to keep the close cooperation between not only the embassies in Tokyo but also between the countries. January 19, 2016: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had a great pleasure of attending the Japan Institute of International Affairs's Forum organized for the occasion of H.E. Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida's speech titled "Japanese Foreign Policy in 2016". In the speech, H.E. Foreign Minister Kishida spoke on the outline of the Japanese foreign policy since the current administration took office 3 years ago, that aims to proactively contribute to the world peace. H.E. Minister Kishida highlighted that since he assumed the post, he has had the official meetings for more than 590 times with his counterparts or Royal Families of the world in an effort to promote Japanese presence. H.E. Foreign Minister also briefed in the speech the standpoint of the Japanese government on the important issues that Japan and the world face today.

18/01/2016 H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Welcomes Gyros Corporation's Visit to the Embassy

January 18, 2016: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie, and Mr. M. Yasir Karimi, Second secretary, welcomed the visit of Mr. Yamaguchi and Ms. Iokawa of Gyros Corporation to the embassy. Gyros Corporation, based in Tokyo, has been working on the project for rehabilitation and expansion of aircraft parking aprons at Hamid Karzai International Airport (Kabul), funded by Japanese official assistance. Mr. Yamaguchi, president of the corporation, and Ms. Iokawa visited the embassy to brief the completion of the project, and ideas of further plans.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie congratulated Mr. Yamaguchi and Ms. Iokawa for the successful completion of the project as it represents a good and practical example of the cooperation between Japanese and Afghanistan, that assures the expansion of exchange and business between not only the two countries, but also internationally. For such efforts and the achievement, H.E. Ambassador presented the letter of congratulations to the two guests.

January 14, 2016: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie had a pleasure of attending “Ambassadors &TOKYO,” a New Year’s event hosted by Tokyo Metropolitan Government. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed a happy New Year to H.E. Governor of Tokyo Mr. Yoichi Masuzoe, and congratulated his governorship last year as well as he wished the Olympic and Paralympic games scheduled in 2020 here at Tokyo be very successful. H.E. Governor Masuzoe appreciated, and Their Excellencies, both former health ministers of Afghanistan and Japan respectively, agreed to keep the cooperation efforts between the embassy and Tokyo government.

H.E. Dr. Fatimie also had a pleasure to converse with other attending Ambassadors, diplomatic personnel, Tokyo Metropolitan Government officials, and distinguished guests.

Jan. 08, 2016: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie warmly welcomed Mr. John Durkin, the Representative Governor, and Mr. Anthony L. Cala, General Manager, of Tokyo American Club. The two guests visited the embassy as its neighbor to express their new year’s greetings. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie extended his wishes for the prosperous new year for Mr. Durkin and Mr. Cala as well as for Tokyo American Club. Mr. Durkin appreciated and in return, he, too, expressed his hope to cooperate with the embassy to maintain the successful new year in the good neighborhood. He also noted that he was very happy to revisit the embassy after the last time, when he attended the reception on the occasion of welcoming Afghan First Lady in last August, for the embassy’s continuous hospitality.
