January 21, 2016: It was an honor for His Excellency
Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie to attend the reception for
the Establishment of World Tsunami Awareness Day hosted by the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Japan has had many experiences of tsunami,
as the Japanese word has become and known to the world today, it has
earned counter-tsunami and prevention measures. In his remarks, H.E.
Foreign Minister of Japan Mr. Fumio Kishida expressed that Japan is
ready to cooperate and offer assistance to the countries of the world in
this issue. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had a pleasure of conversing
with H.E. Minister Kishida, and expressed his congratulation on the
adoption of the World Tsunami Awareness Day at the United Nations, which
Afghanistan also supported.
The reception was attended by many distinguished guests by Japanese
law makers, officials and widely invited diplomatic missions, as the
World Tsunami Awareness Day was supported by many countries. H.E. Dr.
Fatimie had a pleasure of meeting H.E. Mr. Motoo Hayashi, Minister of
Economy, Trade and Industry; H.E. Mr. Keiichi Ishii, Minister of Land,
Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; the Honorable Mr. Toshihiro
Nikai, Chairman of General Council, Liberal Democratic Party, and the
President of Japan-Afghanistan Parliamentary Friendship League; the
Honorable Mr. Toshitaka Ooka, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Finance,
and Member of the House of Representatives; the Honorable Mr. Shohei
Okashita, Member of the House of Representatives; and Ms. Mizumi
