ongoing socio-economic development, the Embassy has been working
fastidiously to further enhance Afghanistan's relations within all
levels of Japan's political apparatus. His Excellency Ambassador Dr.
Fatimie and Third Secretary Mr. Sayed Ali Asghar Amiri's meeting with
the Mayor and Vice Mayors of Hiratsuka City, Their Honors Mr. Ochiai
Katsuhiro, Mr. Yasuo Kigawa, and Mr. Yoshiaki Suzuki respectevely, is an
example of such efforts.
After receiving a warm welcome from the Mayor and all staff, H.E.
Ambassador Dr. Fatimie proceeded to, on behalf of the people and
Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, communicate his
gratitude to the people and Government of Hiratsuka City for their vital
and substantial involvement in ensuring Afghans are healthier, freer,
safer, happier and living longer. The Hon. Mayor Katsuhiro was also

very pleased to hear about the steady progress being made. H.E.

and how it could be applied to Afghanistan's rural and remote
development.
As a sign of the warmth of the friendship that has been developed
between Afghanistan and Hiratsuka City, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie was
given the honor of not only touring the city's political Council Chamber
but also being seated in the Speaker of the Chamber's seat.
