February 4, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to meet with the Hon. Mr. Hiroyuki Ohno, President of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Hon. Mr. Takayuki Okayama, Vice President, at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in Fuchu City. Also in attendance was Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked Hon. Messrs. Ohno and Okayama for receiving them and making time in their schedules to meet. Further, he congratulated them on being one of the top leading universities in the field of Agriculture which is not only important to the world, but so vitally important to Afghanistan’s agriculturally based economy. Since 2003 they have accepted 50 Afghan scholars into their university to study, and currently there are 11 students engaging in their programs. In return, Hon. Messrs. Ohno and Okayama sincerely thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for arranging to meet with them as well as for his kind words.
Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended his gratitude, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for the long support and assistance of the people and Government of the noble nation of Japan. Japan has stood with Afghanistan during the rebuilding process, helping to bring Afghanistan to its current progress & achievements, and their help to develop the human capacity holds a place of appreciation and honor in the heart of Afghans. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked them for having accepted many Afghan scholars over the years. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also expressed optimism for the relationship between Japan and Afghanistan to become stronger through many avenues and asked for their support to increase the scholarship opportunities for Afghan students at their institution in order that they may receive the cutting edge top ranking education and thus to help continue the human capacity development of Afghanistan for maximizing progress. Hon. Messrs. Ohno and Okayama both believed that assisting in doing so would serve as a great assistance to increasing ties between Afghanistan and Japan as well as to continue the forward progress for Afghanistan.
