The 2018 Satsuki Festival at Ueno Park.
May 24, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Bashir Mohabbat attended the Satsuki Festival at Ueno Park that took place near the Takeno-dai plaza in front of the Tokyo National Museum. H.E. Dr. Bashir Mohabbat was invited on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
At the festival, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting His Excellency Mr. Yohei Kono, the former Foreign Minister and Speaker of the House of Representatives and presently, Honorary Chairman of the Japan Satsuki Association and the Ambassador also met with Mr. Kazuo Kunima, the Chairman of Japan Satsuki Association.
The Satsuki Festival is an annual event with beautiful Japanese Azalea flowers showcased for the public. The Satsuki azalea is native to the mountains of Japan and usually bloom in late May unlike other Azaleas. The event was a great cultural event for the Ambassador.
