April 10, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and privilege of meeting with H.E. Mr. Tadamichi Yamamoto, the Special Representative for the Secretary-General of the UN at the embassy. Mr. Ahmad Ghafoori, First Secretary & Consul; Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary; and Mr. Asif Agah were also in attendance to warmly welcome H.E. Mr. Yamamoto.

H.E. Mr. Yamamoto first thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for meeting with him and expressed his sincere appreciation towards the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Tokyo. Further, he congratulated H.E. Dr. Mohabbat on his appointment as the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Japan and wished him a great successful tenure, noting he was certain to have one due to his longtime experience in Japan. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked him for his thoughtful words and expressed his great joy in hosting the occasion of H.E. Mr. Yamamoto’s visit.

Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked him, on behalf of the people and Government of Afghanistan, for the United Nations and all their agencies for their many activities which have worked tirelessly in their efforts to bring about profound and continuous support of Afghanistan over the years. He also expressed the optimism for the advancement of peace and security in Afghanistan and the region following the international consensus and support expressed during Kabul Process II and the Tashkent Conference, as well as hope for the continued progress set forth by the National Unity Government in light of the upcoming Parliamentary Election. All those present further discussed many topics of mutual interest.
