Hosted Luncheon Reception in Honor of PEACE Project Scholarship Graduates.

March 6, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of hosting a lunch reception for scholarship graduates at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’s Rumi Balkhi Hall, in Tokyo. These graduates who had studied in Japan under JICA’s project called PEACE program, ADB's Scholarship program, as well as MEXT Scholars were honored for completing their diligent Master’s and Doctorate studies here in Japan.

Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary for the embassy, greeted the guests to the hall and facilitated the ceremonies. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat gave his opening remarks, welcoming and thanking those in attendance for coming to celebrate the incredible achievements of the honorary graduates of the PEACE program. Furthermore, he remarked that these Afghan students who have completed the PEACE program will now return to Afghanistan with invaluable knowledge that will help in the peaceful revitalization of Afghanistan.

Remarks were also given by Hon. Mr. Daisuke Fukumori, Senior Deputy Director for South Asia Division 2 of the South Asia Department of JICA who applauded the achievement of the Afghan scholars and the strong relations between Afghanistan and Japan for the success of these programs.

Mr. Ahmad Mansoor Stanikzai, a Graduate Student from Tokai University, gave a heartfelt speech remarking on his personal journey to completing his program as well as thanking the people and Governments of Japan for helping to develop the human capacity and creating a further peaceful future for Afghanistan.

Ms. Shogufa Popal, a graduate student the University of Tokyo, gave her thanks to the people and Government of Japan and JICA for the unique opportunity and helping to further advance the cause of the keen and powerful women in Afghanistan such as herself.

This was followed by Mr. Zaigham Karimi, graduate of Tokyo University of Agriculture, who presented his research which focused on wheat market instability in certain regions of Afghanistan.

Following the speeches, Afghan dishes prepared by the Embassy in honor of this special day, were served for all to enjoy. And for their achievements, following the meal, certificates of completion were given to all graduates from the embassy, JICA, JICE, and ADB respectively. To commemorate the event, a group photo was taken. We sincerely wish all the best successes to the graduates and are very proud of their achievements. Best of luck upon your return.
