Attendance at the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Ambassadors in the Middle East and Africa

March 27, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor of attending the annual meeting of the Japanese ambassadors to the Middle East and Africa held at the Iikura Guest House of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

This annual meeting serves with the noble intention to strengthen the important relationships among the host nation of Japan and the many nations in Africa and the Middle East region. The heads of missions for these countries are able to meet, network, and familiarize themselves with one another in order to build the most ideal and warm of relations. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his sincerest appreciation to the host of the event, H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan, for the invitation and gave his heartfelt thanks on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the noble nation of Japan for their continuous benevolent support over the years. In return. H.E. Foreign Minister Kono assured H.E. Dr. Mohabbat that Japan would continue to stand with Afghanistan well into the future.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting with H.E. Mr. Masahisa Sato, Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan, and thanked him as well for the generous support Japan has shown to the people and Government of Afghanistan, allowing for the enjoyment of improved livelihoods and progress in society, proving Japan's true friendship. In return, H.E. Mr. Sato thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and remarked that after his many travels to Afghanistan he has developed a special fondness for the Afghan people, that Afghanistan would always have a special place in his heart, and that he very much wanted to travel there again one day soon.

Through the course of the evening, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting and networking with longtime friends Hon. Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, Chief Representative of the Komei Party; Hon. Mr. Isao Iijima, Advisor to the H.E. the Prime Minister of Japan and Senior Fellow of Keidanren; H.E. Ambassador Mr. Mitsuji Suzuka, Ambassador of Japan to Afghanistan; all of whom he had profound talks with; as well as several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, heads of missions in Japan, dignitaries, and other guests, all of whom he greeted warmly and discussed topics of mutual interest.
