Reception Honoring Courtesy Call by The Third Leadership Program for Women in PEACE Project and Afghan Policewomen Training in Japan.
February 14, 2017: It was an honor and a privilege for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie to host a luncheon reception to honor the courtesy call visit by the 3rd Leadership Program for Women in the PEACE Project, Afghan Policewomen on a training program in Japan, and dignitaries from Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan, Japan International Cooperation Agengy (JICA), and Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) at the Embassy. Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Minister-Counsellor; Mr. Ahmad Ghafoori, First Secretary and Consul; Mr. Basir Hamdard, First Secretary and Political Affairs; Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary and Cultural Affairs; and Mr. Abdulzaman Akbari were in attendance to greet guests as they arrive and host the event.
Once all guests were received, the opening address was given by Mr. Asif Agah who welcomed all in attendance. In his opening remark, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie extended his welcome to all present and thanked for calling on the embassy to share their stories and further help in the empowerment of women in Afghanistan to further progress.
Mr. Hiroaki Ichiba, Principal Deputy Director for the Country Assistance Planning Division III of the International Cooperation Bureau of MOFA Japan gave his remarks regarding the important role this level of leadership program could help to contribute to society through the empowerment of women. Inspiring key speeches regarding ‘Women’s Participation in Society & Government’ and ‘Stopping Normative Violence Against Women’ were given respectively by Ms. Nazifa Faqeryar, of Ochanomizu University, the Representative of PEACE Women Scholars, and Major Wahida Rezaie, General Director of Strategic Coordination for Ministry of Interior Affairs.
After all had spoken, Mr. Agah invited the guests to partake in the Afghan dishes prepared in their honor by the Embassy which were served for all to enjoy. Following the luncheon, all guests present partook in a group photo, to commemorate the auspicious occasion.
