March 29, 2011: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin
Fatimie, along with Mr. S.A. Razaq Luqman, First Secretary of the
Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met with Mr. Nabard E.
Yazdani, President of Yazdani Corporation, to discuss ways in which
Afghan residents of Japan can work together in support of Japanese who
have been afflicted by the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami on March 11,
2011. Mr. Yazdani also shared from his experience information regarding
the Japanese economy and Afghan-Japanese business relations.
The 9.0 magnitude earthquake and the tsunami that resulted devastated
the northeastern area of Honshu, Japan’s largest island. The effects
are still being revealed and many in the worst-affected prefectures
continue to suffer.
Ambassador Fatimie, who has volunteered to serve as a physician in
troubled areas, will gather together a number of Afghans at the Embassy
in the near future to build off of the ideas discussed with Mr. Yazdani,
and put forward support measures.
