September 28, 2017: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of making a courtesy call on His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Viorel Isticioaia-Budura of the Delegation of the European Union at Europa House in Tokyo, Japan. Also in attendance was Mr. Ahmad Ghafoori, First Secretary and Consul for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
H.E. Ambassador Mr. Isticioaia-Budura expressed his warm welcome to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and sincerely congratulated him on assuming the post as Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Japan. Additionally, he wished H.E. Dr. Mohabbat the greatest of success with His duties throughout His entire mission, stressing that he was certain to do so due to H.E. Dr. Mohabbat’s long time in Japan.
In return H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked H.E. Mr. Viorel Isticioaia-Budura for his kind words and for making time. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat further expressed the sincerest gratitude to the European Union and all its member countries for the selfless support to Afghanistan’s peace and reconstruction. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also updated H.E. Mr. Isticioaia-Budura on the many positive accomplishments in Afghanistan over the past 15 years, especially those undertaken since the formation of the National Unity Government in 2014.

H.E. Mr. Isticioaia-Budura thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his time and his humble words, and furthermore, stressed that the European Union will aim to continue to support Afghanistan in developing into a thriving and peaceful nation. Both distinguished gentlemen agreed to enhance and pursue the amicable relations between Afghanistan and the European Union and continue the highly appreciated mutually-beneficial collaboration. The honorable gentlemen additionally discussed topics of mutual interest such as the recent speeches by leaders of allied nations planning for active steps to achieving further peace and security in Afghanistan.
