September 6, 2017: Mr. Basir Hamdard, First Secretary, had the honor and pleasure of accompanying His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat during a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Lui Tuck Yew, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore, at the Singaporean embassy in Tokyo.
H.E. Ambassador Mr. Lui Tuck Yew expressed his sincere appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and Mr. Hamdard for their visit, and warmly congratulated H.E. Dr. Mohabbat on assuming the post as Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Japan. Additionally he wished H.E. Dr. Mohabbat the greatest of success in his endeavors throughout his mission remarking that he was certain to do so due to H.E. Dr. Mohabbat’s long time and experience in Japan. Mr. Hamdard also wholeheartedly congratulated H.E. Mr. Lui on also having just begun his Ambassadorship mission in Japan as well, having presented his credentials to H.M. the Emperor of Japan on the same day as H.E. Dr. Mohabbat, and wished him every success and ease during his tenure, assured of their earnest ability to work with each other.
Mr. Hamdard thanked the people and Government of the Republic of Singapore for all of their help and cooperation fostering specialized training of Afghans in many various fields, for further developing Afghanistan’s human capacity building that is so essentially needs, and its great part in the rebuilding of Afghanistan. He also most sincerely thanked Singapore for very well and warmly receiving H.E. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani during his visit to Singapore on April 7, 2017. Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat and Mr. Hamdard updated H.E. Mr. Lui on the many progressive achievements in Afghanistan over the past 15 years especially those undertaken since the formation of the National Unity Government, and asked for Singapore’s support in helping to provide more Master’s and Doctoral course acceptance opportunities, especially in the studies of Economics, for Afghan students in the future, as well as to advance Singapore's investment in the economics and import/export opportunities of Afghanistan.
H.E. Mr. Lui thanked Mr. Hamdard for his kind words as well as for the continuous close and excellent relations between the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo and the Embassy of Singapore in Tokyo. He assured him that he would pass on H.E. Dr. Mohabbat’s request to the proper Singapore officials so that together the two countries could work on addressing the needs. The gentlemen further discussed topics of mutual interest such as the recent speeches by leaders of allied nations planning for active steps to achieving further peace and security in Afghanistan.
