September 5th, 2017: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, had the honor and pleasure of making a courtesy call on the Honorable Mr. Shinichi Kitaoka, President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at JICA Headquarters. Also in attendance was Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan.
Hon. Mr. Shinichi Kitaoka warmly welcomed the diplomats and expressed his sincerest congratulations to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat on his new appointment. He remarked that given H.E. Dr. Mohabbat’s long time in Japan and great experience with the history and culture, he would no doubt serve as an even greater bridge between their two countries. As such, Hon. Mr. Shinichi also wished him the greatest success during his tenure.
In return, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked Hon. for making time in his schedule to meet with him, as well as for his kind words of congratulations. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat further expressed his thanks to the people and Government of the noble nation of Japan who have sincerely helped Afghanistan achieve great strides in progress on the road towards stability, peace, and prosperity. Additionally he updated him on the many progressive achievements in Afghanistan over the past 15 years and under the leadership of the National Unity Government, thanks in part to the many successful programs undertaken by JICA. In addition he informed him the new goals and endeavors he seeks to accomplish during his mission. Hon. Mr. Kitaoka thanked Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words, very much encouraged by the successful strides in Afghanistan. He assured H.E. Dr. Mohabbat that JICA would try to continue its concerted efforts and programs with which to continue being part of Afghanistan’s forward progress and would hold firm to its commitments to Afghanistan well into the future.
