First Secretary of the Embassy joins the Opening Ceremony and Preview of "Gordon Matta-Clark: Mutation in Space" at the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo

June 18, 2018: Despite his early passing with only 35 years of age, the American artist Gordon Matt-Clark (1943-1978) continues to attract artists in various fields such as art, architecture, street culture, and food. So did he attract the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Rahim Azimi who had the pleasure of attending the Opening Ceremony of the new exhibition at the National Musem of Modern Arts in Chiyoda, Tokyo (close to the Tokyo Imperial Palace).
Dr. Azimi praised the museum for exhibiting the first full-scale retrospective of the pioneering artist and welcomed the public to join the exhibition between June 19th to September 17, 2018. Also, Dr Azimi highly appreciated and thanked the National Museum of Modern Arts for inviting him to the Opening Ceremony for such renowned and unique exhibition. Similarly, the Museum showed the First Secretary high gratitude for his presence and reputation and looked forward to his future attendance and visits to the museum.

June 18, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of attending the Science and Technology in Society Forum reception at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Auditorium in Tokyo, Japan.

His Excellency Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting and talking with the Hon. Mr. Koji Omi, the Founder and Chairman of the Science and Technology Society, and Mr. Teruo Kishi, Science and Technology Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs both of whom were guest speakers at the event. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed great appreciation for the invitation and wished for the continuous success in technological advancements in Japan that positively impact Afghanistan and relations between the two. In return, they thanked Dr. Mohabbat for his attendance and kind words, and wished for the continuation of profound relations between Afghanistan and Japan.
Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting with several others of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, diplomats with missions in Japan, and other distinguished guests who attended the forum.

June 16, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure to attend the “Ima no Africa” Fair, organized by the 38 African Diplomatic Corps (ADC), with missions in Japan, at Hibiya Park in Tokyo.

The guest speaker at the opening ceremony was H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister for Japan, who spoke of the auspiciousness of such an event. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of meeting and talking several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of African countries to whom he expressed his heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in honor of the auspicious occasion. In return, they thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and attendance. Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat felt immense joy in being granted the opportunity to participate in the opening ceremony of the event as this extends the discovery of the shared cultural aspects of Afghanistan and the African countries present, all which strengthens relations both in Japan and abroad.
Additionally, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat had the honor of meeting and speaking with several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, Diplomats with missions in Japan, and high ranking members of several Governments present with whom he discussed many topics of mutual interest.

June 15, 2018: It was a pleasure for Dr. Rahim Azimi, the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to visit the Higashimachi Elementary School on its Open Day and meet the school’s Principal Yoji Hatano.

Dr Azimi enjoyed the conversation with Principal Hatano and his tour which explored the campus of the Higashimachi Elementary School. Also, Dr Azimi was glad to have met the outstanding children and teachers who give the Higashimachi Elementary School its intellectual, diligent, and spiritful character. Also, Principal Hatano thanked Dr. Azimi for visiting the school and highly appreciate the kind gesture from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

2018.14.06 Meeting with H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Oka, Director-General of Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau/Ambassador, Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Assistance at MOFA

June 14, 2018: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of attending a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Hiroshi Oka, Director-General of Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau/Ambassador, Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Assistance at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan at the MOFA headquarters in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo.
The purpose of this meeting was to personally hand H.E. Ambassador Mr. Oka an invitation packet to be passed on to H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan, to the Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan that will take place in November 2018H.E. Dr. Mohabbat emphasized the importance and significance of this planned Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan in Geneva later this year -- jointly hosted by the Government of Afghanistan, United Nations, Joint Coordination & Monitoring Board, and the International Community. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed just how eager Their Excellencies the Minsters in Kabul were for the Japanese presence of H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan, to attend this event and impart their views and participation in providing feedback on the National Priority Programs (NPPS) agreed to in the previous international conferences on Afghanistan.
H.E. Mr. Oka thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for arranging to bring him the invitation packet for H.E. Foreign Minister Kono from Their Excellencies the Ministers in Kabul, and promised to usher the packet to H.E. Foreign Minister Kono as well as convey the significance of attending and participating in the event. In return, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked H.E. Mr. Oka for hosting their meeting and for his continued effort in maintaining the relationship between Afghanistan and Japan. Further, he expressed his wholehearted thanks and appreciation for MOFA of Japan for their continuous and benevolent assistance to Afghanistan over the years. H.E. Mr. Oka assured H.E. Dr. Mohabbat that Japan would continue to stand by and support Afghanistan well info the future.

June 14, 2018: Mr. Basir Hamdard, First Secretary and Head of Political Affairs of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, visited with great pleasure the Meiji Jingu Iris Garden including the Special Iris Viewing at the Meiji Jingu Shrine in Yoyogi, Tokyo. The Iris Garden at the Meiji Jingu Shrine is a secret flower garden at the popular shrine. The garden features a walk amongst 1,500 irises, and it is only open to the public in June during the rainy season in Japan.
Hence, Mr. Hamdard had great pleasure and felt humbled to have the chance of seeing this unique garden. He enjoyed the walk amongst the beautiful flowers which recharged him with new energy for the whole week. He expressed his gratitude towards the Meiji Jingu Shrine for inviting him, and he promised to return next year. Also, the Meiji Jingu Shrine thanked Mr. Hmdard for accepting the invitation, and all staff members look forward to seeing him and other Members from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, again the following year.
