August 05 & 06, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the great honor to attend the 73rd A-Bomb Anniversary in Hiroshima, Japan.

The evening before the anniversary ceremony, His Excellency attended the dinner hosted by the city of Hiroshima where he had the great honor and pleasure to meet Honorable Mayor of Hiroshima Mr. Kazumi Matsui. Dr. Mohabbat thanked for his invitation to the event and expressed his most profound and sincerest condolences and sorrow to the Honorable Mayor for the passing of the many people during the recent heavy rains which have caused floods and landslides in Hiroshima. In return, Hiroshima’s Mayor expressed his deepest gratitude to Dr. Mohabbat for his kindhearted words and thanked him for attending.

Dr. Mohabbat also had the great honor and pleasure to meet and converse with Japan’s Honorable Speaker of the House of Representative Mr. Tadamori Oshima to whom he expressed, on the behalf of the people and the Government of Afghanistan, gratitude for the steadfast support and Japan's essential role in further developing Afghanistan.

Also, during the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the chance to express his remorse for the attack during a minute of silence to remember the victims of the Hiroshima atomic bomb attack. Dr. Mohabbat also had the great honor and pleasure to talk to Honorable Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, President of the Komeito and other Japanese government officials.

August 02, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the great honor and pleasure to welcome Former Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan His Excellency Mr. Kinichi Komano to the Embassy of Afghanistan. H.E. Mr. Komano was appointed as the Ambassador after the collapse of the Taliban regime in 2002 and remains a respected, venerable, and faithful friend of Afghanistan.

H.E. Mr. Komano was pleased to visit the Embassy for a delightful lunch including many, for him, much-anticipated Afghan delicacies. During lunch, he remembered his merry days and memories during his stay in Kabul, and both of Their Excellencies began conversing about Afghanistan and its relations with Japan. Ambassador Komano thanked Dr. Mohabbat for his invitation to lunch, and the generous hospitality at the Embassy. In return, His Excellency thanked, on behalf of the people and the Government of Afghanistan, for his great service during his time in Kabul. Both also wished for the continuing and enduring relations between Afghanistan and Japan.

The lunch was also attended by First Secretary Mr. Basir Ahamad Hamdard, First Secretary Dr. Rahim Azimi, Second Secretary, Mr. Asif Agah, and Third Secretary and Consul, Mr. Abdulzaman Akbari.

July 31, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the great honor and pleasure to attend the reception for the inauguration of Honorable Professor Shuichi Furuya as Member-Designate of the Human Rights Committee (CCPR) and Honorable Professor Hiroko Akizuki as Member-Designate of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The event was held at the Tokyo Prince Hotel in Minato, Tokyo.

At the event, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat had the great honor and pleasure to meet and converse with His Excellency Mr. Manabu Horii, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his thanks to H.E. Mr. Horii for his invitation and expressed on the behalf of the people and the Government of Afghanistan his sincerest gratitutde for Japan's tremendous help and support in reconstructing the Afghan nation. In return, H.E. Mr. Horii welcomed His Excellency Ambassador’s kind words and assured him that Japan will continue to stay at Afghanistan’s side. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat also congratulated Hon. Prof. Furuya and Hon. Prof Akizuki respectfully for becoming Member-Designates and wished them the best of luck for their endurance in their newly established tasks. In return, Hon. Prof. Furuya and Hon. Prof. Akizuki thanked His Excellency for his support.

Additionally, His Excellency had the great chance to meet with several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors and Honorable Diplomats with missions to Japan, and high-ranking Members of the Japanese Government present in honor of the occasion.

July 31, 2018: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the great honor and pleasure to join the celebration of the Sankei International SHO exhibition’s 35th Anniversary organized by the Sankei Shimbun and Sankei International Sho Association at the Meiji Kinenkan “Fuji” in Tokyo. The event was also attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Takamado, Member of the Japanese Imperial Family.

At the occasion, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat expressed his thanks for his invitation and congratulated Honorable Chairman and CEO of the Sankei Shimbun Mr. Takamitsu Kumasaka for the recurring anniversary of the Sankei International SHO exhibition. His Excellency also expressed his most profound gratitude on behalf of the people and the Government of Afghanistan for the coverage about Afghanistan’s ongoing developments by the Sankei Shimbun. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat expressed his particular appreciation for the Sankei Shimbun’s articles about the exhibitions of Afghanistan’s treasures from the Afghan National Museum in the Tokyo National and the Kyushu National Museum in 2016. In return, Honorable Mr. Takamitsu thanked Dr. Mohabbat for his generous words.
