April 23, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to host a Luncheon, presentation, and Afghan goods bazaar members of Ikebana International’s Saitama Office at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, Japan.

The guests were greeted with welcoming remarks by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat who had prepared a special afternoon for them. Further, they were given a delightful and informative presentation on Afghanistan’s culture, history, natural resources, and progress by H.E. Dr. Mohabbat.

Following their presentation on Afghanistan, the guests were treated to a special lunch of various Afghan traditional foods carefully prepared by the embassy in honor of the occasion.

At the completion of the meal and entertainment, the guests were invited to peruse a small bazaar set-up with booths in which local Afghan businesses in Japan displayed Afghan craft and art items such as rugs, scarves, Afghan traditional clothing, Afghanistan sourced precious stone jewelry items, award winning Afghan saffron, and dried Afghan fruits and nuts for them to view, and inquire further about. All those present had an enjoyable time and remarked at how impressed they were with their new introduction to the wonders of Afghanistan.

September 5, 2018: It was an honor for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to meet with H.E. Mr. Arifin Tasrif, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Japan, at the Indonesia Embassy in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan and Ms. Moestika Panca Dewiani, First Secretary for the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat thank H.E. Ambassador Mr. Tasrif for making time to meet with him. Further, he express his sincerest thanks on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the continuous support by the people and Government of Indonesia over the years during the rebuilding and reconstruction of Afghanistan on its way towards achieving peace. In return, H.E. Mr. Tasrif thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for meeting with him today as well as for his kind words. He assured him that Indonesia would continue to stand by Afghanistan to ensure further progress and prosperity as well as work together with them and the international community to help further global peace. Both of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors expressed their hopes for the continued relations between Afghanistan and Indonesia and for the strengthening of ties between their two embassies.

August 15, 2017: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the pleasure of receiving a courtesy call by Mr. Masataka Nakahara, Visiting Senior Advisor on Afghanistan, Japan International Cooperation Agency, who is a long time friend of Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat personally and of the people of Afghanistan. Mr. Nakahara expressed his sincere congratulations to H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his appointment as new Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Japan, and wished him great success. He added that he is very much looking forward to continuing to work closely again with H.E. Dr. Mohabbat.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat in response thanked Mr. Nakahara for his kind visit and words of congratulations. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat further expressed his deep gratitude, on behalf of the people and Government of Afghanistan, to years of Japan’s selfless and impact generating support to Afghanistan’s reconstruction efforts, particularly by JICA. He, too, wished for Mr. Nakahara’s continuous success and added that he also is looking forward to working with such a prominent expert on Afghanistan’s development process.
