Tashkent Conference
April 3, 2018: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of attending a round-table symposium co-hosted by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan and he Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) at the JIIA Building where he delivered a speech about the outcomes of both the Kabul Processes and the Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan. Also in attendance at the event were Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary, and Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary, for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat delivered a speech thanking the international community for showing solidarity in their progress towards peace, as well as thanking the people and government of the Republic of Uzbekistan for being an important link in regional cooperation and steadfast support of Afghanistan’s progress and development. The recent “Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan: Peace process, Security Cooperation and Regional Connectivity” was about acknowledging that peace and security in Afghanistan are essential for stability and prosperity in the region and then by extension, the world.

Attendance at the Opening of World Assembly for Women (WAW) 2017.

November 1, 2017: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the opening of the World Assembly for Women (WAW!) at the Tokyo Prince Hotel.
The event was held by the Government of Japan, KEIDANREN (Japan Business Federation), Nikkei Inc., and the Japan Institute of International Affairs. One of the primary speakers speaking on the importance of this topic in Japan was H.E. First lady of Japan Mrs. Akie Abe.
H.E. Dr. Mohabbat listened to the Keynote Speeches for this annual event. At the event, issues regarding women’s role in today’s society such as diversity in work environments, women’s role in promoting as well as other issues that commonly affect women around the world were discussed. This topic was heralded as one of the key focuses for Japan to work on enhancing further into the future. Also present at this event were several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, Diplomats with missions in Japan, members of Japanese Government, business representatives, and community leaders.
