The Asiatic Society of Japan, Inc.’s (ASJ) General Meeting and Lecture by Honorary Patron, Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado, at The Embassy.
September 25, 2019: It was an honor and a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to allow the Asiatic Society of Japan, Inc. to host their General Meeting as well as a special lecture by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado, at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, Japan. Also in attendance to welcome the honorable guests to the Embassy were the diplomats and staff.
On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat received and welcomed Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado to the Embassy, invited her to enjoy her evening, and intimated how much everyone was anticipating her informative lecture. Further, Dr. Mohabbat thanked the people and Government of Japan for their steadfast and benevolent support of Afghanistan over the years on its quest for progress, prosperity, and peace. As H.E. Dr. Mohabbat is also a Board Member of the ASJ, in his opening remarks to the over 100 guests prior to Her Imperial Highness’s lecture, he not only welcomed all the members of the organization but congratulated them on the recent incorporation of the organization; wishing them many fruitful successes in the future.
After the remarks by H.E. Dr. Mohabbat, Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado gave her informative and nuanced lecture for the enjoyment of the guests. Following the lecture, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat had the pleasure of introducing Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado to the historical photo exhibit on display at the embassy chronicling the 100th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence; from the early start by His Royal Highness King Ghazi Amanullah Khan and through to the current leaders of the National Unity Government, H.E. President Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and H.E. Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.
Following the major lecture festivities, all of the guests were invited to partake in traditional Afghan cuisine dishes specially prepared in honor of the occasion for the evening. All of those present had an enjoyable time and remarked on how wonderful it was for the Embassy to provide this opportunity for the organization to have their meeting and lecture within its halls, as well as just how wonderful the Afghan hospitality and cuisine were to experience.
