27th Meeting of the Energy Charter Conference and the Ministerial Meeting
November 25-26, 2016: Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, attended the 27th Meeting of the Energy Charter Conference and the Ministerial Meeting, jointly organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Energy Charter Secretariat at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The welcome reception was hosted under the auspices of Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Dr. Mohabbat was very honored to have been given the opportunity to partake in the meeting which was attended by representatives from diplomatic missions in Tokyo and ministerial-level participants from over 70 countries, among them H.E. Eng. Ali Ahmad Osmani, Minister of Energy and Water of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and Dr. Mohammad Arif, Senior Advisor of the Ministry of Energy and Water of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The event focused on many important international energy-related issues pertaining to the Energy Charter Treaty.
At the event, Dr. Mohabbat was very pleased to meet with Dr. Urban Rusnak, Secretary General of the Energy Charter Secretariat, among other honorable guests. Dr. Mohabbat took the opportunity to highlight Afghanistan’s abiding commitment to working closely with the international community on energy-related affairs, in addition to economic, cultural, and security issues.
