10/11/16 Attending World Tsunami Awareness Day Event

November 10, 2016: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, was honored to be invited by H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Yoshinobu Nisaka, Governor of Wakayama Prefecture, to attend a reception to commemorate the first ever World Tsunami Awareness Day.
The World Tsunami Awareness Day was made possible owing to the support of many countries and organizations that voted for the establishment of an occasion that focuses on spreading awareness and promoting understanding of tsunamis and their impact on Japanese social and economic life.
At the event, Mr. Nisaka explained about the enduring implications that the events of March 11, 2011 has had on Japan and how it has affected experts' and the public’s perception of tsunamis. Mr. Nisaka also politely invited H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie to visit Wakayama Prefecture whenever he has the opportunity.


H.E. Dr. Fatimie took the opportunity to express his heartfelt gratitude for the Japanese government and the Japanese people’s ceaseless support and invaluable generosity towards Afghanistan, proceeding to thank H.E. Minister Kishida for his diligent work as Foreign Minister and for the many personal sacrifices he chooses to make in order for Japan to maintain healthy relations with its many friends around the world. In return, H.E. Minister Kishida thanked H.E. Ambassador Fatimie for his attendance at the event and voiced his commitment to continue the Japanese government’s engagement in Afghanistan-related affairs, including the very important Brussels Conference on Afghanistan.
Among the honorable guests, H.E. Dr. Fatimie also had the great pleasure of meeting with Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, Leader of the New Komeito Party, Mr. Makoto Yoshizawa, Director of the International Performing Arts Association, and Mrs. Mika Muraoka, Chief Director of the International Performing Arts Association.
