October 30, 2019:H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor of making a courtesy call on the Honorable Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, Chief Representative of the Komei Party, at his office in the House of Councillors Members’ Building.

Hon. Mr. Yamaguchi, a long time personal friend of the Ambassador's as well as of Afghanistan's, extended a sincere and warm welcome to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and thanked him for arranging to meet. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat extended thanks to Hon. Mr. Yamaguchi for the strong friendship and cooperation between Japan’s Komei Party and Afghanistan through the Embassy of the Islamic Republic Afghanistan in Tokyo over the years which has very much helped contribute to Afghanistan’s mission of progress, prosperity, and peace. He also thanked the people and Government of the noble nation of Japan for their steadfast friendship and support of the people and Government of Afghanistan over the years. Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his deep hope and desire for the cooperation between the two entities to strengthen further. Hon. Mr. Yamaguchi concurred with H.E. Dr. Mohabbat and reciprocally conveyed his hope and desires to see further cooperation between the Komei Party and the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo. Further, Hon. Mr. Yamaguchi remarked that Japan was eager to advance its investment in the economics and import/export of Afghanistan with further progress in the security sector. Following the exchange, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat and Hon. Mr. Yamaguchi further discussed topics of mutual interest.

October 29, 2019: It was an honor for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the reception on the occasion of the 96th Proclamation of the Republic of Turkey at the Turkish Embassy in Tokyo.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat took the opportunity to extend his deepest gratitude, on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic Afghanistan, to the Republic of Turkey, through H.E. Dr. Hasan Murat Mercan, to wish sincerest congratulations on this most auspicious day. He further conveyed his wish that Turkey would enjoy renewed peace and prosperity, his wishes for the welfare of the Turkish people, and his desire that the two nations continue to work amicably well into the future. In return, H.E. Mr. Mercan thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his words and attendance at their National Day celebration and expressed his best wishes for the people and Government of Afghanistan as well, and his hope for their two nations to strengthen their ties of friendship.

While at the event, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting with several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, many high ranking Japanese officials, and members of diplomatic missions stationed in Japan all of whom were present for the auspicious occasion.

October 29, 2019: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat was pleasured to meet with long time friend of Afghanistan and his personal friend, Hon. Mr. Kenshiro Matsunami, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nippon Sports Science University, at their campus in Setagaya city.

On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat thanked Nippon Sports Science University for their welcoming a visiting lecture by H.E. President Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani last week during his brief trip to Japan for the Enthronement Ceremony of His Imperial Highness the Emperor of Japan which was well coordinated, hosting a friendship tree planting ceremony at that time, and for offering unique scholarships opportunities to Afghan students at the various NSSU schools which will hopefully continue well into the future. In return, Hon. Mr. Matsunami thanked H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and expressed his interest in opening more scholarship opportunities in the future. The two gentlemen further discussed topics of mutual interest.

October 25, 2019: It was an honor and pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to give closing remarks at “Symposium on State-building Efforts in Afghanistan Toward its Enduring Peace: Nexus among Humanitarian, Development and Peace”, hosted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Institute of International Relations and Area Studies (Ritsumeikan University), and the College & Graduate School of International Relations (Ritsumeikan University) at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto.

The keynote speakers of this symposium were the renowned H.E. Ms. Adela Raz, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations, and H.E. Mr. Tadamichi Yamamoto, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan and the Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), leaders in Afghan Affairs globally. Following the keynote addresses, there was a panel discussion on the progress and challenges of the Triple Nexus by respected leaders in their respective fields. This was followed by closing remarks by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed sincerest thanks and appreciation on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the hosts of the for arranging this opportunity; the people and Government of Japan for all their support extended to Afghanistan over the past 18 years being the second largest donor to Afghanistan generously providing Afghanistan with over 6.5 billion dollars, contributing to economic development and supporting our quest for peace, development, and building efficient state institutions; and particular gratitude to JICA for instituting programs such as the Project for the Promotion and Enhancement of the Afghan Capacity for Effective Development (also known as the PEACE Project) which puts generous scholarships and priceless, cutting-edge education into the hands of Afghanistan’s motivated youth: its future leaders. Molding them into global citizens and catalyzing capacity building and sustainability by-Afghans for-Afghans, greatly supports the development and rebuilding of social, political, and economic foundations, and cements suitable infrastructure empowering Afghans – like citizens of many other countries who have benefited from Japan’s altruism – to live fuller, richer, healthier and happier lives. Further he kindly requested Ritsumeikan University, JICA, and those in the audience to continue to advocate for Afghanistan by opening up even more scholarship opportunities to keep forward momentum going.

Following the lecture, a few of the Afghan Scholar studying at Ritsumeikan University through the PEACE Program gave individual presentations on aspects of their country for the guests to understand better. All the guests present remarked how informative and eye-opening they found the presentation to be and very much looked forward to hearing more about Afghanistan’s push towards peace in the future.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat took the opportunity to extend his deep gratitude, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to the Republic of San Marino, through H.E. Mr. Nicola Renzi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of San Marino for the warm considerations and support of the Sammarinese people to Afghanistan over the years, and further wished H.E. Minister Mr. Renzi an enjoyable visit during his time in Japan. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also thanked the host of the event, H.E. October 3, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attend the Day of German Unity, a National Day reception for the Federal Republic of Germany, at the German Ambassador’s Residence in Tokyo.

On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat expressed sincere congratulations to Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, Dr. Klaus Vietze of Germany in honor of this auspicious occasion. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat added that Afghanistan is always thankful for the long support and assistance of the people and Government of the Federal Republic of Germany over the years. Germany has stood steadfast with Afghanistan during the rebuilding process, helping to bring Afghanistan to its current progress & achievements; close to actualizing peace. In return, Dr. Vietze conveyed appreciation for H.E. Dr. Mohabbat’s attendance and reaffirmed that Germany would continue to stand with Afghanistan well into the future and expressed hopes for maintaining good bilateral relations between Germany and Afghanistan.
