June 21, 2012:
Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and the members of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo welcomed Hon. Councillor Yumiko Himei and visitors from NGO “Results.”
Ambassador Fatimie expressed sincerest gratitude to Ms. Himei, on behalf of the people and Government of Afghanistan, for the generous and life-bettering support that Japan has provided through the leadership and facilitation of its noble Diet. The Ambassador spoke of the historical and friendly connections that these two countries have enjoyed. As the nations established official diplomatic ties 82 years ago, Ambassador Fatimie conveyed that the relations between the two governments is vital and should be even-further strengthened. The Hon. Councillor kindly reciprocated the sentiments, adding that she is hopeful and supportive of a successful outcome in the upcoming Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan.
The members of NGO “Results,” who share ties with Hon. Councillor Himei, spoke of their grassroots work to end poverty. Ambassador Fatimie, being familiar with their project in Afghanistan to address tuberculosis, commended the group on its important initiative and encouraged them to continue improving the health of Afghans and people around the world. NGO “Results” will be a participant at the upcoming CSO Conference organized in parallel to the Tokyo Conference.
