November 30, 2018: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor of receiving visiting delegation members Hon. Dr. Hafizullah Wali Rahimi, President of Afghanistan’s National Olympic Committee and Director General of Sport and Physical Education; Hon. Mr. Younus Popalzai, Secretary General of Afghanistan's National Olympic Committee; and Hon. Mr. Ajmal Ghani, Senior Advisor to H.E. the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; for a meeting at the embassy in Tokyo. Also in attendance were Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary; and Mr. Asif Agah, Second Secretary, both of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan.

As Tokyo is actively preparing for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Summer games, Hon. Dr. Rahimi, Hon. Mr. Popalzai, and Hon. Mr. Ghani are in the country currently for seminars courtesy of the Government of Japan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat welcomed the guests to the embassy and thanked them for arranging the time to meet. Moreover, he extended his wishes that their unique experience in Japan be both enjoyable and fruitful for the future Afghan Olympic Team that will come for the 2020 Olympic & Paralympic Games. The Hon. Dr. Rahimi, Hon. Mr. Popalzai, and Hon. Mr. Ghani expressed their hopefulness for a very productive experience which will lead to a great representation by Afghanistan in the Olympic and Paralympic Games here in Tokyo in 2020. Further, they asked to have both the Afghanistan National Olympic Committee and the Embassy closely work together in the ensuing time leading up to the world awaited competitions for the successful benefit of the Afghan Athletes who will come to Tokyo to compete in the games.
