September 3, 2019 : H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor of attending the 54th National Day reception for the Republic of Singapore at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan.

On this most auspicious occasion and on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat expressed most heartfelt congratulations to long-time friend of the Afghan Embassy, H.E. Mr. Lui Tuck Yew, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Japan – with whom he began his tenure as Ambassador with on the same day over two years ago, presenting credentials to His Imperial Highness the Emperor of Japan. Further, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed his gratitude for Singapore’s long standing commitment to Afghanistan’s reconstruction and development, particularly in the realm of Human Capacity Building by offering many scholarships across several fields for Ministry officials. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat proceeded to thank the people and Government of Singapore, for their steadfast support over the years and expressed his hope for their continued prosperity. H.E. Mr. Lui thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and in return expressed his wish to see the relationship between Afghanistan and Singapore continue to strengthen and flourish.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting with several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors with missions in Japan, many diplomats, members of Parliament, and notable members of Japan’s business sector all of whom had come to celebrate this most notable occasion for the Republic of Singapore.

September 7, 2017: His Excellency Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan, had the honor and pleasure of attending the 52nd National Day reception of the Republic of Singapore at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat expressed His sincere congratulations to the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Mr. Lui Tuck Yew. As Singapore is a vital partner in Afghanistan’s strive for peace and stability, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat further emphasized His honest gratitude for Singapore’s generous contribution to reconstruct and redevelop Afghanistan particularly in the realm of human capacity building. In return, H.E. Mr. Lui Tuck Yew articulated that Singapore wishes to sustain a mutually beneficial and friendly relationship with Afghanistan.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with several of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors with missions in Japan, many diplomats, high ranking members of Parliament, and notable members of Japan’s business sector with whom he discussed many topics of mutual interest.

September 6, 2017: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of calling a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Lui Tuck Yew, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore, at the Singaporean embassy in Tokyo. Mr. Basir Hamdard, First Secretary was also present at the meeting.

H.E. Ambassador Mr. Lui Tuck Yew expressed his sincere appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat for his visit, and warmly congratulated him on assuming the post as Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Japan. Additionally he wished H.E. Dr. Mohabbat the greatest of success in his endeavors throughout his mission remarking that he was certain to do so due to H.E. Dr. Mohabbat’s long time and experience in Japan. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also wholeheartedly congratulated H.E. Mr. Lui on also having just begun his Ambassadorship mission in Japan as well, having both presented their credentials to H.M. the Emperor of Japan on the same day, and wished him every success and ease during his tenure, assured of their earnest ability to work with each other.

H.E. Dr. Mohabbat thanked the people and Government of the Republic of Singapore for all of their help and cooperation fostering specialized training of Afghans in many various fields, for further developing Afghanistan’s human capacity building that is so essentially needs, and its great part in the rebuilding of Afghanistan. He also most sincerely thanked Singapore for very well and warmly receiving H.E. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani during his visit to Singapore on April 7, 2017. Additionally H.E. Dr. Mohabbat updated H.E. Mr. Lui on the many progressive achievements in Afghanistan over the past 15 years especially those undertaken since the formation of the National Unity Government, and asked for Singapore’s support in helping to provide more Master’s and Doctoral course acceptance opportunities, especially in the studies of Economics, for Afghan students in the future, as well as to advance Singapore's investment in the economics and import/export opportunities of Afghanistan.

H.E. Mr. Lui thanked the Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words as well as for the continuous close and excellent relations between the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo and the Embassy of Singapore in Tokyo. He assured him that he would pass on H.E. Dr. Mohabbat’s request to the proper Singapore officials so that together the two countries could work on addressing the needs. The two ambassadors further discussed topics of mutual interest such as the recent speeches by leaders of allied nations planning for active steps to achieving further peace and security in Afghanistan.
