Reception to Welcome Delegation Members from Ministry of Women's Affairs, Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Information, the Private Sector, and JENESYS.

January23, 2018: His Excellency Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan, had the pleasure of hosting a reception on the occasion of the visit of delegation members from the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Ministry of Women’s Affairs, and the Private Sector, to Japan—and most especially, to JENESYS, the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths for bringing this delegation together. More than 50 guests from the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Japan, Chamber of Commerce of Japan, JETRO, JICA, organizations operating in Afghanistan, and those from Japan with working relationship with Afghanistan among the private sectors were invited to the Embassy in honor of the visiting Afghan delegation.

The Second Secretary, Mr. Asif Agah gave the opening remarks on behalf of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, welcoming the delegation visit to Japan. In his opening remarks, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat first began by thanking the people and Government of the noble nation of Japan for their most benevolent and gracious support over the years in the redevelopment of Afghanistan -- Japan has shown to Afghanistan over the years in its reconstruction process that it has been a true friend and its generous efforts will forever live in the hearts of Afghans . Further in his speech he highlighted the urgent necessity of bolstering investment & trade for stimulating the Afghan economy, the major improvements in women’s development, and the improvements in human capacity development that Afghanistan has achieved. He pointed out the abundant natural resources of Afghanistan both agricultural and non-agricultural—from mineral ores and precious stones, to Saffron and abundant fruits & nuts, to handmade goods such as carpets and cashmere accessories, and so on calling on the government and private sectors of Japan's Mining industry and other to take advantage of this great hub for trade in the region. He called on the Afghan delegation to use their resources and this rare opportunity to make the best of this friendship with their Japanese counterparts and establish great networks to sustain this growth.

Following H.E. Dr. Mohabbat, remarks were given by Deputy Director General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, who welcomed the Afghan delegation to this unique experience which he hoped would prove most beneficial and promised on behalf of the people and Government of Japan that they would work harder to bolster trade relations between Japan and Afghanistan for the mutual benefit of both countries; Hon. Mr. Kenshiro Matsunami, President of Nippon Sports Science University Group, a long time friend of Afghanistan who gave encouraging words about the many wonders of Afghanistan, the great resources of Afghanistan, and the greatest resource of all—the Afghan people; and honorary member Mr. Haji Sadullah Haqyar, Head of Secretariat of Board of Directors for the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, who updated the guests on Afghanistan's international trade progress over the past 16 years, expressed his utmost thanks and praise to Japan for their support over the years which has helped to bring this sort of progress and positive change to Afghanistan, and gave further wonderful remarks about trade and investment in Afghanistan and the readiness for them to welcome Japanese investors.

Following the remarks, guests were invited to browse the many Afghan crafts and products on display showcasing the beautiful and vibrant culture of Afghanistan and they were invited to dine on traditional Afghan cuisine which was prepared by the Embassy in honor of the guests’ visit.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Japan was honored and delighted to host the reception as it showed a growing success with cultural exchange between Japan and Afghanistan, and potential business opportunities. In the end, a group photo was taken to cherish the memory.
