24/09/2014 Ambassador Dr. Fatimie participated in Conference “Afghanistan: Lessons Learnt and the Road Ahead”

September 24, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Fatimie, along with Minister Counselor Mr.Faryabi, First Secretary Mrs.Afzali, and Second Secretary Mr.Karimi, participated in a conference “Afghanistan: Lessons Learnt and the Road Ahead”. The conference was hosted by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Japan Office in cooperation with Institute for International Policy Studies and Japanese-German Center Berlin. At the meeting, H.E. Dr. Fatimie gave a few remarks on the past achievements of Afghanistan the last decades in various sectors, as well as on the prospect for the country under the new unity government. Additionally he also highlighted the high turnout rate of the Afghan people in recent election. Lastly Dr. Fatimie asked for continued, vigilant support of the United Nations and international community in helping build peace in Afghanistan as it is deeply connected to world peace. Afterwards the conference was heated with thorough discussions regarding the future and challenges Afghanistan faces. The conference was attended by distinguished guests such as Professor Ahmad Fahim Hakim, former Deputy Chair to the Afghanistan Independence Human Rights Commission, and Mr. Masataka Nakahara, former Director General of South Asia Department Department.
