Attendance at the NPO Association of Sahadat for Children in Afghanistan (ASCA) Reception in Gifu Prefecture.

January 27, 2019: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to attended the NPO Association of Sahadat for Children in Afghanistan (ASCA)’s Reception at the Grand Hotel in Gifu Prefecture.

The NPO ASCA is actively contributing to the support of the education sector in Afghanistan. Since 2011, ASCA’s tireless efforts have helped to improve the quality of life and educational opportunities of Afghan children and their communities through hosting events such as this. In his keynote speech, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat spoke to on the progress that Afghanistan has made since 2001, especially since the formation of the National Unity Government, and expressed deepest gratitude on behalf of the people and Government of Afghanistan for the benevolent assistance and support of the friendly and noble nation of Japan over the years, most notably from the people of Gifu.

During the ceremony, Hon. Mr. Masanao Shibahashi, Mayor of Gifu City also gave remarks regarding the close ties and earnest feelings for supporting Afghanistan that the people of Gifu have and would continue to have as Afghanistan continues to strive for peace and prosperity. Among the numerous dignitaries who attended the well-appointed reception was Hon. Ms. Junko Morita, President Of Gifu Broadcast, whom H.E. Dr. Mohabbat greeted and thanked on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the continuous support to Afghanistan by showcasing its many wonderful aspects through the media. In return, Hon. Ms. Morita thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his kind words and assured him that Gifu Broadcast would continue to find ways to showcase the many beautiful wonders of Afghanistan for the people of Japan to see.

Also while at the event, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat also had the pleasure of meeting with Mr. Shinji Matsuo, Curator of the Tottori Sand Dunes Sand Museum which will be debuting a sand sculpture depicting an historic Afghan monument in their annual sand exhibit opening later this year.All of the guests present were treated to the spirit of Afghanistan’s hospitality which included entertainment showcasing the stylings of Afghanistan’s music scene. Also they were able to enjoy some carefully prepared traditional Afghan dishes in order to taste the flavors they would encounter on a trip to Afghanistan. It was a notable night enjoyed by all.
